Viz Media Announces Print Edition for World Trigger Manga

Lennon wrote & sang lyrics while soundtrack composer Cornelius scored & arranged ― Sean Lennon, the son of the late musician John Lennon and artist Yoko Ono, co-created the ending theme song for Ghost in the Shell Arise border: 3 Ghost Tears with Keigo Oyamada (also known as Cornelius). Film to open in 35 cities for two days in June Viz Media announced on Friday that Eleven Arts will host screenings of the Tiger & Bunny The Movie -The Rising- film in 35 Canadian cities on June 26 and 29. The cities include, among others, Calgary, Edmonton, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, and Vancouver. Tickets will sell for C$12.95 for adults and C$10.95 for children under 12. Studio Trigger to animate upcoming anime adaptation Enterbrain began streaming an animated book trailer titled "Katana Sword and Oiran Sorcery" for the latest volume in the Ninja Slayer novel series, Pistol Karate Kesshiken. Anime series to premiere in July ― The official Twitter account for the Sword Art Online II anime announced on Friday that Eir Aoi will be returning to perform the series' opening theme song. X Japan's Yoshiki Performs Saint Seiya CG Film's Theme

"Hero" previewed online before full unveiling at his world tour's 1st stop in California ― Yoshiki, the 48-year-old leader of the rock band X Japan, is contributing the theme song for this June's CG film Saint Seiya: Legend of Sanctuary. The song will be heard in every country that is releasing this first Saint Seiya film in a decade. Yoshiki wrote this new song "Hero (Yoshiki Classical Version)" specifically for this film. Katie Fitzgerald, the female vocalist of the Violet UK unit that Yoshiki leads, is singing the ballad while Yoshiki himself performs the piano work. A self-professed anime fan, Yoshiki watched the film before producing the song and remarked on its sense of amazing, grand scale. He wondered what kind of song would match the film before deciding to write this ballad. He added that the song carries the hero's motif with a very beauitful melody that strikes the heart with much impact.

Anchor Bay Acquires Live-Action Kite Film

Company to distribute the film in N. America ― North American distributor Anchor Bay Entertainment has acquired distribution rights for the live-action anime-based Kite film from director Ralph Ziman (Gangster's Paradise: Jerusalema). A trailer for the film was revealed in January. The film stars lead actress India Eisley (The Secret Life of the American Teenager, Underworld: Awakening, Maleficent), Callan McAuliffe (I Am Number Four, New Director), and Samuel L. Jackson. The Deadline website describes the project as "a character-driven action film that charts the story of Sawa (Eisley), a young woman living in a failed state after the financial collapse, where a corrupt security force profits on the trafficking of young women. When Sawa's policeman father is killed, she vows to track the murderer down with the help of his ex-partner, Karl Aker (Jackson)."

Slice of life comedy gets digital and home video release ― North American anime licensing company Sentai Filmworks announced Thursday that it licensed the slice of life comedy television series "The Comic Artist and His Assistants". Sentai Filmworks will first release the series digitally and then on home video. Crunchyroll began streaming the series on April 7. Death Note Musical Workshop Held in NYC

Musical to open in Japan, Korea in 2015 ― A workshop for Frank Wildhorn and Jack Murphy's stage musical adaptation of Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata's manga Death Note was held in New York City on April 14. The workshop was presented in English for the benefit of the Japanese and Korean producers. The musical will be translated into Japanese and Korean and open in Japan in April 2015, and in Korea in July 2015. The cast for the workshop included Andy Kelso as Light, Drew Gehling as L, Tony Award nominee Robert Cuccioli as Light's father Soichiro, Adrienne Warren (pictured right) as Misa, Eric Anderson as Ryuk, and Jackie Burns as Rem.
