I would however, really love to know the time-frame for some of their earlier announcements. Like Croisee in a Foreign Labarynth and No. 6. |
The last JP BD/DVD volume for No. 6. was just released 2 days ago.
The last JP BD/DVD volume for Croisee in a Foreign Labarynth isn't until 3/21.
So you'll have to wait awhile on those.
My guess, if neither get dubbed, it'll probably be late this year.

I think so too, but I hope they don't use those UGLY yellow over black subtitles that seem to be the standards :\ |
I don't think they use those that much anymore i know this from toradora's official release from nisa "yes a different company as well". Also it will be on the anime network official site so they use the same subs there they use on their dvd's..damn ocd
|
But aren't these the same? They always use either yellow on black or white on black in the most pixelated text ever made. It's like they are upscaling the subs to 20x their regular size. I find it hard to believe that these DVD's can't have the same quality as subs do on streaming for crunchy roll |
that is NIS not S23 S23 does use yellow subs because they are really ADV under a name, which is one of the oldest anime companies around today. and also one of the most "set in the old ways of the market"

Wow lol Sentai is on quite the licensing spree
And I have to commend Sentai for also being 1 of the 2 or 3 distributors that still licenses partially older anime to this day *crosses fingers for a Minami-ke, Itazura na Kiss, One Outs, or Love*Com license*
I'd heard relatively good things about Kurenai so i'll probably give this one a look when it's released

Everytime I look at those tags, I always wince and shake my head at how badly they misrepresent the show. If anything, Kurenai resembles Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit as both are about bodyguards who are charged with protecting and caring for a child who comes from a sheltered and privileged background, all in the hope that the child will be able avoid a terrible fate. Even though the settings are completely different, the story structure and feel of the shows are similar as the story arc of each series consists of slice of life episodes bookended by awesome action scenes.
I would beseech anyone reading to check this series out when it is released as it will surprise you with its great characters, excellent action and funny dialogue.

well it's better than nothing at this time yes i remember old adv tactics hell they where vhs fansubbers before becoming legit subbing/dubbing licensing company. I just wanted to point out that not everyone uses that method, I though that stopped this time around lol.. My mistake.

Sweet. Bummer for no BDs, but I'll live with the DVDs.
Haven't watched the anime version, though I'm currently reading the manga version and I think they're pretty decent. Can't wait for when they're released in the U.S.

Aww... The series looks interesting, but it's disappointing to see it not have a BD. Especially since subs generally look much better on them. Also I have no idea who started the trend of having ugly yellow brick subs, but they should have been fired immediately.

Other than yellow subtitles, which is purely a matter of taste, how is Sentai set in the "old ways of the market?". They've never released singles, they are one of the most active in digital distribution and simulcasts, and they no loner dub every series whether or not the market can support it. Is there something you've seen that I'm missing?

Yellown subtitles were started during the VHS days because white blended too easily into the background. Now it's just a matter I taste. Some prefer white, some prefer yellow. Personally I would take yellow over white any day, but as long as they're not that ugly green color Bandai and CPM have subbed songs in, and they aren't difficult to read like some of Funi's blurays, I can deal with them.

Groan.
Of all the shows they could have licensed they picked this one.
Hope it doesn't come to New Zealand.

I consider there high prices for subbed only half sets and reluctance to do full sets to be old fashioned and almost as bad if not worse then singles. the concept of dubbing some stuff and only doing subs on others is also really old fashioned. their editing of everything possible (for example moe) is also old fashioned in my opinion, also their approach of licensing cheap titles (particularly OVAS) like mad is old fashioned.

It's what works for their bussiness model bro. Doing sub only for niche titles that will only sell x amount is actually good move on their move despite being DVD only. Editing moe?? okay.. ahem sure but still this good news in my opinion and gives me sense of hope.

None of what you are complaining about is "old fashioned".
Licensing cheap(proof?) properties and releasing them is in the job description.

dtm42:
It's one thing to dislike something, but to hate it so much that you would deny fellow fans who DO enjoy it the chance to own it seems a bit extreme. Care to elaborate WHY you harbor such vitriol towards it?
