Horray!!!! I've been waiting so long for a new Sound Decision column. There's been some discussion in the music forum speculating whether Bandai was going to release the 2nd Wolf's Rain OST or not. I guess this confirms it.
I love the description of "Tell Me What the Rain Knows"; I completely agree it is a great example of superb arrangement. I would also cite "Mouth on Fire" (track 5) as an example of unpredictability; not only does it change styles and instruments at the drop of a hat, but rhythm as well. Starting out in 6/8, dashing into complicated syncopation, and ending with 2/4 time, it's really amazing how the whole piece manages to gel together and not seem jarring. |

Awww.. I like the ROD OST... there are a number of themes on there that are as good, if not better than the OVA. Mind you, I own the OVA soundtrack as well.
Ah well, I gotta agree... the original theme was re-done to death. I almost think the rest made up for it. I woulda given it to the Hit or Miss category myself. |

Welcome back. =P. I've waited long for this column, and it's still good =P.
The R.O.D. the TV one slightly boggles me, but maybe it is the fact that much of the OVA music is used throughout the series (only seen the first DVD though...). Never the less, I do love the opening theme, but eh... whatever. And I've never seen an Eva CD at Wal-Mart... though ours is quite trashy... |

^^; I'm not, really. Time signature is really basic music theory. I haven't studied music theory at all since I graduated from high school; if I did, I'd be able to tell what the heck is going on with songs like "Float." Are those augmented chords? Diminished? Is it based on a whole tone scale? I have no idea what's happening.

Waaa... Yoko Kanno has wonderful music. I'm incredibly pumped to see the 2nd CD has been released. I have fun trying to analyze her songs too, but I don't understand nearly as much theory as I'd like. I just enjoy ranting about time signature changes and countermelodies. ^_^

I don't think it has been released, yet. At least, I couldn't find a non-import version of Wolf's Rain OST 2 when I searched on Amazon.com. I am curious when it is supposed to be released. |

I actually like the R.O.D -The TV- OST, but YKZ's CD Expect the Unexpected is much better. If only the series used YKZ's other songs, though...
