It's actually kind of incredible how awful this movie looks

The cgi and designs feel on par with the original movie with none of the camp

^ I agree. I wonder why they spent so much money trying to make it look so poor. It's as if the Power Rangers are the spawn of the alien race from the original "Aliens" film, and I should call up Ripley to put both them and their Zords out of their misery.

I know being ignorant online is a practiced skill, but you're good.

You have seen nothing but toy images, one trailer with no actual zords or rangers in it, and a VR session. Surely you're at least intelligent enough to understand that you have not actually seen any of the actual CGI and that your statement is inherently false.

So is being optimistic to the point of dellusion.

If the best you can do is criticize having an open mind (which is, by definition, not optimism), you must already realize that you effectively have no argument.

Being pessimistic solely based upon nostalgia and fanaticism is little better. The concept of taking a wait and see approach to a movie just seems like a bad idea for some reason.

I think "nostalgia" is one of the least likely reasons this film is going to be awful. From what has been shown, it looks like an incredibly cheap, lazy, and poorly made film trying to cash in on the current superhero trend. If anything, "nostalgia" seems to be the only reason people are even giving this film the benefit of the doubt.

Even the merchandise looks cheap, which is saying something considering this is Power Rangers, one of the most heavily merchandized properties out there.

I have zero nostalgia or even fondness for PR. But even I can see the film has as much to do with the franchise as Bayformers does. Eldritcho is right in nostalgia is all this movie has going for it, and it's more in the realm of embaressment nostalgia, as in people who say the original is "too silly" and needs to be more serious and dark. We know what the costumes and mecha look like, that's more than enough to call out poor designwork.

And so now we see the mecha and they are so busy I have to look at the image like its a damned Magic Eye puzzle to figure out where or what anything is.

And so continues the trend of kids growing up and trying to force 'fun' franchises to get dark and serious to justify their enjoyment of fun silly things.

It's also one of the reasons people are complaining about it. Hence my original point.

You do know that Power Rangers has on countless occasions gotten crappy looking official (and crappy looking bootleg) merchandise right? The movie merchandise isn't anything unique in that regard.

....We're not talking about that though we're talking about the process of insisting the movie is going to be bad just because it doesn't retain the tone and feel of the original show which isn't really a rational argument it's just petty.
