Very good interview. His answers made me further respect his commitment to learning about Japanese culture. I very much appreciate Mr. Schodt's passions for Japanese culture and exposing the culture to Western audiences (through manga or other media). I've read two of his books (Manga! Manga! and Dreamland Japan), and highly enjoyed them both.

Fred Schodt is a great guy. I've still never read Manga! Manga! though, which I hear is an immortal classic. Gotta get a copy one of these days.

One of the earliest scanlations/fan translations was approved by Tezuka's company. That is awesome. |
