Woah woah woah. Why is Tanya in the villains category and wasn't even nominated for best score, anime of the year or best girl?

That's just one of many problems. This list is already total BS.

If Land of the Lustrous doesn’t win best CGI, this whole awards thing can just not exist anymore for all I care going forward.

Obviously as an awards show and in light of last year’s results, this year’s results will have to be taken with a grain of salt, as it is ultimately a popularity contest. However, I’m more confident in some of the nominations than last year, particularly for best animation, aside from the omission of MiA from that category.

Best girl doesn’t seem like it will have as clear a winner as last year’s, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

Nice to see Knight’s & Magic in the CG category, even if it will likely be grabbed by fellow Orange (CG) production, Lustrous.

I think a bigger omission is that series' opener not being listed. I would easily take it over AMB's, for instance.

And at least Tanya got acknowledged.

as the great luke skywalker would say "funny. every nominee on this list. it was wrong."

First of all why isnt garo: vanishing line a nominee for best 3d cg?

I mean, i shouldnt really have to go on. this list is obviously based off of whats popular. it doesnt matter whether people think the shows are good or bad.

i still don't know why they cant just make every anime of 2017 a nominee for each category. i guess that would take to much time for people to scroll through. people with spouses and kids and a life and stuff...

How the hell did Fate/Apocrypha not make it in Best Animation category but My Hero Academia did?

Edit: They even included A Silent Voice? They can't be serious. How is that fair for the other TV series listed there?

And the winner is.... YURI ON ICE!!

The last CR awards were a total joke. Let's see if this time is any better.

*sees Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju 2 listed in anything*

Oh, wow! Maybe finally this series will be recognized after being shafted last year-

*sees competitors in said catergories*

-Never mind.

Will vote for Princess Principal for best OP tho.

So, how can Zac Bertschy be a judge? Doesn't he watch like 5 anime series a year?

I'm a little bummed at the lack of love for Sakura Quest. I thought it would at least sneak in the list for best SOL.

@angelmcazares I'm comfortable with Zac being a judge because he spends so much time within the community and spends time watching and reading and listening to a lot of other critics, like the guys from Sakugablog, Jacob, etc, who absolutely know what they are talking about.
His taste is also really good, in my opinion, but that's just me. Laughing

Pretty decent nominations all things considered. Definitely better and more varied than last year. More knowledgeable critics, unsurprisingly, definitely helps a lot.
Biggest omission, I guess, as far as I'm concerned, is the lack of Made in Abyss for the Best Animation category. I will be voting for Little Witch Academia for its obvious focus on my kind of sakuga, but Made in Abyss is definitely more deserving than 3gatsu, which has a few highlights, but probably mostly got chosen for its art design and visual direction rather than actual animation, which it certainly lacks.

Even though it hurts to see some titles there while some others were omitted, I think it's a pretty competent list for this kind of contest specially in light of last year's disaster.
While MHA's dominance is absurd (it even got TWO entries in best girl, what's up with that?) it's easier to understand than Yuri On Ice's ludicrousness or the extreme and utterly useless shilling of Kabaneri (even though it belonged to Amazon).

Seems to be very tongue-in-cheek. Tanya is extremely cynical and completely self-interested with some strokes of cruelty, and pretty much everyone who has seen her up close in-universe considers her a demon.

The real problem here is that March comes in like a lion Season 2 alongside other anime that haven't finished are nominated.
I mean, wouldn't those go for next year? Or do they all get a second chance at the "continuing series" category?
