No comments about the Serena Varghese "day in the life" extra, Zac? Wink

Other than that, nice review. The new characters (May and Leon) are pretty interesting despite their cruel, nasty attitudes, and they put a lot of spice into this series. (Sandra Krasa mentioned in a recent interview that May's personality is equivalent to a "nuclear reactor".) Hopefully Sora will make them change their hearts like she did to Layla, but I heard that it won't happen until later in the series.

One complaint that I do have is that I don't like the new opening & closing songs by r.o.r/s - "Tattoo Kiss" and "Escape". The melody of the songs just doesn't grab me as much as the prior two songs.

The best thing about Kaleido Star is, far and away, the amazing animation and production values. The circus scenes are wildly original and sometimes breathtaking; the animation quality hasn’t dipped at all in the second season. Character designs remain distinct, albeit a little generic (the new characters, May and Leon, are particularly bland looking). In short, if you were worried that the series wouldn’t look as good as it used to, put your fears to rest.

One thing that particularly impressed me about the first season of Kaleido Star was that the quality of the animation didn't suddenly drop in the middle of the series, which happens with almost every anime title. Consistence in animation quality for a TV series is a rare thing (*cough* particularly for Studio Gonzo...), so I was thrilled that episodes 9, 14, and 21 (or any other) looked just as beautiful as episode one. I'm glad to hear that this trend continues.

I just hope the second season has more of a solid ending then the first season did.

The ending of the second season actually ends worse than the first or wait was teh the OVA. i can't remember. I loved the second season just as much if nto more than the first. I had them shipped from Tokyo for $50 a dvd because I couldn't wait. The ending made me cry just like the first. i am glad to finnally have it in English though I hate leons voice. The could have chosen better.

I have to agree with you on that part. I'm not a big Mike MacRae fan myself (although I did liked him as Gauron in Full Metal Panic!), but I do think that Hilary Haag was the right choice to play May Wong. Hilary has that rugged, aggressive style in her vioce that feels natural to play a character as cold and ruthless as May. To me, May sounds like a more aggressive, nastier version of Rosette Christopher or Ryo Hayakawa (of Princess Nine fame).

I would definatlly have to agree with you that Mays voice is fitting. When I got a copy of the first episode from newstype I had to turn it off because I thought his voice was so wrong. He didn't sound as mature and secretive as he did in the Japanese version. Maybe I would think differently if I had heard the English version first. But i do think they need to start bring in some new talent into their voice acting.

"Tattoo Kiss" grabs me and doesn't want to let go!!! LOVE IT!! Favorite new anime song.

Closing song?? Not so much...

Basically taking this slowly, because I am in anticipation of how in blazes they're going to top the end of season one.
