So...... Does this mean anything major for us over here in the US? Or will things pretty much continue as usual?

Could mean any number of things. The clearest is that it appears that Pony Canyon Japan wanted out of physical media along with a gaggle of other related businesses, subtitles, music production, etc. Memory-Tech is growing their business, if I had to bet I'd say the Subtitle, Music and Streaming operations are what they wanted. I would not be surprised if they wind down / downsize the physical media business.
