In my experience these sorts of things rarely turn out to have much to do with the original series directly unless they're something like a "Master Grade RX-78-2 with Limited Edition __th Anniversary Water-slide Decal Sheet". Laughing Turn A Gundam was the big 20th Anniversary project, while Gundam Unicorn was originally intended to be a 30th Anniversary release (it was ultimately delayed to the next year).

An announcement that Hathaway's Flash has been officially greenlit maybe?

I thought that had already been greenlit.

While I am hoping for an anime remake of MSG based on the Gundam Origin manga, I suspect they're saving the original series remake for that big-budget Hollywood movie Sunrise is making with Legendary Films. Thus, I'm guessing this will be another series perhaps set in the UC universe but with a different story. Crossbones Gundam, perhaps?

Well, Crossbone Gundam is off the list for good do to Koji Tsujitani passing away, so that narrows it down to either more Gundam: The Origin, Hathaway's Flash or Sunrise convincing Tomino to direct yet another new series for the anniversary. Of course, there is the improbable longshot that they've uncanceled the Gundam Seed movie but that is more likely to ever happen around 2022.

It seems that was more of an accidental leak than an announcement. This could very well be it, but that schedule might not have accounted for everything (or, who knows, might not even come to fruition).

I love SEED (not so much Destiny), but there is no chance in hell they can do a movie sequel at this point which won't be complete trash. I think the odds of the original team creating something decent to follow up on the ending to Destiny were already low.

My top three predictions

1) Hathaway's Flash
- Most likely scenario since it was mentioned in that accidental leak awhile back
2) 0079 Remake
3) IBO Sequel
- not the most appropriate project for the 40th anniversary but news of an IBO sequel project has been floating around for awhile so this is possible

Maybe some news on the live action movie? It’s from the Detective Pikachu people, Legendary Films. Maybe they finally secured a director.

It would be awesome if they reboot/remake F91 into a 50 episodes series(just like the good old days), and couple it with crossbone vanguard saga OVAs afterward. 0079 was good and one of my top gundam anime but i don't feel it needs a remake tho. I just don't feel it.

I think at this point, enough time had passed that a new series is in order. It feels like there's been nothing but remakes, sequels and side-stories for the past few years: Origin, Thunderbolt, Moon, Narrative, Divers, 00's 10th anniversary and even IBO maybe getting more content.

You know that they can cast someone else to voice Seabook Arno do you ? I can give you a good list of seiyu who reprise role from a previous colleague who passed away. Like for exemple Hiromi Tsuru on Bulma who was replace by Aya Hisakawa.

Oh no it definitely needs a remake being the original is dated as hell.

Wasn't Tomino supposed to be working on a theatrical version of Reconguista? Maybe they'll announce something about that.
