I've always thought that Asian Kung-fu Generation's "Rewrite" was a far better FMA OP than L'Arc's painfully mediocre "Ready Steady Go". I actually look foward to when the opening of the last section of FMA episodes comes up. With "Ready Steady Go" I always fastforward.

Hm, Rewrite is more ambitious, but Ready Steady Go does what it does pretty well. Clean, crisp, catchy...

I'm surprised you didn't mention "Season's Call" one of the OPs for Blood+, since it could be folks' first taste of Hyde's music (like it was for me). Speaking of that song, I noticed that the bassline is also very heavy in the mix, which is one of the things that sold me on it along with its inherent sing-along-ability.

And just so I can (possibly) stop sounding like an idiot, is it "hide" or "hee-day?"

Geez, yesterday I wrote it Kikade, today Kitase...what's left, Kikase? I swear I will never, ever, ever misspell her name again.

It's "hide". As in Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.

I think 'Faith' is Hyde's worst effort as of yet. It's even more mediocre than '666' and that says a lot. Plus, the lyrics are just weak - Hyde's a wonderful lyricist, but his English lyrics are mediocre at best and downright embarrassing at worst. :/ Ah well. I just hope that once the Faith tour is over Hyde will focus his attention on Laruku again...

Never thought about it, but I always pronouned it like an English word (i.e. hyde = hide (animal skin)). Heh, just now realized that Hyde can also be "to put out of view or sight"...Wow...

Anyway, I have to disagree with what you have to say about Rewrite, Jonathan, as that song totally kicks ass. I've listened to it much more than Ready Steady Go, but I think the two of them are equals in quality. They should not be compared in the same genre, however.

Also, Kesenai Tsumi (Indelible Sin) has not sold me on Nana Kitade, but if you say her other songs are better, I might as well hop on Morrich and see what else is over there...

Hyde's name is pronounced like, Doctor Jeckel, Mr.HYDE. Just think Hyde and seek... and you'll get it right every time. ^__^

Good point--added a couple of sentences on it.

I've honestly never cared too much about Hyde's solo work. I mean it's good but not great, like L'Arc's music is to me.

I completely agree that Crystal Kay should get an album release over here. Her last album was fantastic and has me excitedly waiting her next release.

Wow. Countdown is a very good song... and Season's Call, well, I'll venture out and say it is the best song that Tofu Records has put to disc yet.

And Rewrite is an amazing song! It isn't may favorite FMA song... but geez...

Agreed in full. L'Arc is possibly the most overrated Japanese export to begin with, but Ready Steady Go is even a weak effort of theirs. Rewrite may not be AKFG's finest, but it is far better than anything L'Arc has ever produced.

Best Tofu song ever? Okay, you're going to have to defend that one. ;p

"As the second Blood+ opening theme, Season's Call deserves note, though there is little to distinguish the song from Hyde's other mid-tempo outings, except maybe the radiant guitar chords in the verses. Even if the melody escapes you, the horn-like blare in the third beat will stay with you for a while. It's still a fine song, but when you're dealing with a fourteen-year rock veteran who has released a couple of dynamite solo albums like this one, the bar is raised considerably."

This song should not be noted because it is an anime theme song... the song is absolutely amazing! This is easily the most memorable song by HYDE that I have ever heard, and I am pretty sure it will be the song that sells this album in America.

Comparing it to the rest of Tofu's stock was dumb, as I prefer Tamaki Nami over any of the artists -- but this song is one of the best they have released. The guitar work is mellow, tempting those who aren't into hard rock to jump right in, and when you mix in hyde's sweeping vocals (some of the best he's had in... several years), and the amazingly attractive chorus and you have yourself a winning song.

I haven't heard the rest of FAITH yet, as I wanted to wait and be a good little boy and purchase the album when it drops from Tofu later this month, but if it is ANYTHING like his past work, or like Season's Call, I am almost positive this will be TR's best selling album.

No way! Ready Steady Go has a fantastic melody--how can you not get that thumping intro and carefree chorus stuck in your head? It's got to be one of my favorite anime songs.

I just listened to Rewrite three more times, and I still don't know what y'all see in it. The lead-in to the chorus is smooth, but other than that...?
