Great for people with an interest in Bleach, but it would be nicer if they offered another shipping method rather than just Fed-ex, which is basically the least convenient courier possible. Is there any real reason they can't offer something that will be delivered by Canada Post on my end? Something like Landmark or just plain old USPS?

Also, paying $250 US for free shipping means that with the taxes and exchange rate, I'm paying over $400. As much as I dislike Amazon, it's the only way to purchase Blu-rays affordably. Unless it's something that doesn't show up on there... Discotek...

$250 when did they raise that price it used to be $125 or 150. That's the only reason I haven't bought anything from them.

I believe the reason for this is that FedEx is the only company that offers the customs pre-clearance that RightStuf wanted to offer Canadians.

TRSI probably had a lot of problems with anime fans getting surprised by the customs fees from Canada Post. I'm certain you're aware of customs, but when just 1 in 20 Canadian customers refuse a delivery because of customs, it can wipe out the profit from the other 19.

I'll recommend that someone from TRSI come in here and clarify why they don't offer USPS/Canada Post as an alternative to FedEx.

Yeah, I ordered a few things from them when they shipped via something called Asendia. It would be handled by Canada Post on the delivery end, but they'd basically tell you the customs fees when you went to pick it up from the post office. Or they'd demand them when they delivered it to the door. It was a real pain for everyone involved and you'd get exactly zero warning about what the cost was actually *going* to be, unless you missed the delivery and they left a note.

...I'll admit, I have a bit less skin in the game because while I do live in Canada, I live 20 minutes from the border and there's a facility that I can ship stuff to for a $5 pick-up fee. I do need to be careful though, it really sucks to get hit by customs at the border.

The pre-customs clearance is really the big kicker here. We collect the customs up front and don't charge an additional fee to collect the customs and duties at the package handoff (COD) that happens when packages are delivered via canada post or other shipping methods.

Plus with FedEx, we're able to provide tracking all the way to delivery and the shipping time is typically 5-7 business days.

But you're absolutely correct about the customs fees and having surprises to customers sometimes making their first purchase outside of the country and being hit with this extra fee at the time of delivery. We're always working to improve our shipping methods though and hearing that FedEx is the least convenient courier possible is certainly a surprise after a lot of positive feedback.
