Absolute garbage lineup. CR only has like 3 or so good shows. I don't know why anyone pays ~$9 per month for that service.

Man, Crunchyroll's spring lineup is very weak.

It's sad that Funimation has (mostly) good shows while CR has only a few. I have a bad feeling that CR may lose The Promised Neverland season 2 and even Attack on Titan season 4 to Funimation. Funimation and Aniplex is killing CR. SAD.

Promised Neverland season 2 will probably be a Funimation exclusive. But I don't see Crunchyroll losing Attack on Titan after all these years; plus, it is not an Aniplex title.

I still have Crunchyroll for the old $60 per year price, but if the trend of lousy season lineups continues, I am not resubscribing for the whole year at the new price.

Personally, CR has more of my top shows of the season than Funimation, so I have no
issue paying $8 a month. Had shows not been pushed back to summer, CR would have at least one more top show (then again so would HIDIVE). If anything, HIDIVE is the one in trouble for me, as I'm not watching the one new simulcast they have that hasn't been pushed back to summer.

Beyond my own personal preferences, I don't know that I would say that CR's lineup is weaker than Funimation's. Of the shows reviewed in the preview guide, CR's shows have an average reviewer rating of 3.34 and average user rating of 3.8, whereas Funimation's has an average reviewer rating of 3.00 and average user rating of 3.44. Even if you add Kaguya and use the average user rating across the first season's episodes (4.6) and give it an average reviewer rating of 5, Funimation's average reviewer rating and user rating would still be less than CR's (3.12 and 3.51 respectively with Kaguya). Of the shows with the highest average reviewer rating (reviewed by more than one reviewer), CR and Funi are tied at three each - Funi: Wave, Listen to Me - 4.13, Gleipnir - 3.67, Kakushigoto - 3.63, CR: Villainess - 3.88, Woodpecker Detectives - 3.75, Princess Connect Re;Dive - 3.63). Adding in the shows reviewed by one reviewer puts CR out ahead with 5 to Funi's 4 (Bookworm 2: 4.5, CR; Fruits Basket 2: 4, CR and Funimation). Of the shows that had an average user rating of 4 or above, CR has 6 (Villainess: 4.4, Digimon: 4.4, Yesterday: 4.3, Fruits Basket 2: 4.2, Bookworm 2: 4.1, Food Wars 5th: 4.1) while Funimation has 4 (Millionaire Detective: 4.4, Fruits Basket 2: 4.2, Arte: 4.1, Appare Ranman: 4.1).

Funimation's lower average is in part due to having many of the worst rated shows by users - 3 of the 4 shows with an average below 3: Tamayomi, Sakura Wars, Shachibato - and reviewers - both shows with an average below 2: Shachibato, Gal & Dino, and 5 of the remaining 9 with an average below 3 (Tamayomi, Sakura Wars, Bungo and Alchemist, Shironeko Project, Breakwater).

It's fine if you don't like CR's selection as compared to Funimation. But I don't know that most would agree that it is worse. Look, it has been a weaker season than expected, just based on the number of highly anticipated shows pushed into summer due to the current situation in the world, and I understand that those living outside of Funimation's territories cannot legally access their shows, at least in English, but from where I'm standing, Funi is by no means "killing" CR.

To me, it seems Funi has gotten an edge this season because of the dubs (until they stopped...) and some good shows like Infinite Dendrogram, Bofuri, MHA and Shield Hero when it comes back. CR still has Ascendance of a Bookworm and now Tower of God (I think it's interesting) but I'll watch the dub over the sub on a given show so that means I am watching Funi more than in the past. If CR doesn't do dubs anymore, that means they will lose some viewership.

CR has had some dubs going, but like Funi, they’ve paused that for the time being. Certainly not as many as Funi, but it did seem like they were making moves in that direction, in more languages than Funi too. Funi’s been most known for dubs for a while anyhow, so I don’t know how much new movement being known for dubs would generate now. This is all moot while the current circumstances continue as they are.

I'm fine staying with Crunchyroll.

I heard Funimation features dubs, but that is not a selling point for me, quite the contrary. I'm a Japan-otaku in the wilds of the USA, so I hate to hear American voices speaking anime.

Can anyone tell me whether Funimation allows its users the choice of seeing subtitles in their shows, without the dub?

There are a few shows where Funimation only has the rights to stream their dub because Crunchyroll is streaming the version with subtitles. The new Fruits Basket is one example, although MHA is not. Otherwise, they do have subtitle versions of most shows.

I'm not sure why people think Funimation has more shows than Crunchyroll this season. Funimation has around 19 licensed shows and Crunchyroll has about the same amount. Crunchyroll also has the new Digimon which I personally think is the best show of the season and the new Digmon is probably going to be a year long show assuming there are no delays. People also forget Crunchyroll was supposed to have Re:Zero season two and Snafu season three before those got delayed and as mentioned above they're the only ones streaming Fruits Basket this season as they have the sub and Funimation's dub is on delay. Crunchyroll will also probably eventually get the new Yu-Gi-Oh show.
