The official Twitter account for Pokelabo's Symphogear XD Unlimited smartphone game announced on Friday that the game will end service on July 31 at 12:00 a.m. EDT.
That affects only the global server support though, the game itself isn't truly closed.

The more I see of these articles of such short life-spans(four months, what?) the less I see the point of these gacha games, aside from a few behemoths like Granblue...

That's again the only global/EN server lifetime, which had big issues in terms of trying to get to the original game content as fast as possible and more. The game itself is nearly three years in service, which is actually quite long for the gacha game that based on the anime series.

Symphogear isn't very big in the West, which is why I was surprised we got the game at all. I've experienced a few game closures already and this one had the same signs.

Oh well, next few months will have plenty of events to have fun with. I did spend some money to max out my Miku but c'est la vie.

Unfortunate, but not too surprising. I didn't really get in to playing much, but still logged in daily until recently and the game was flooded with events. It seemed like there was a new set of characters to pull every few days. I'm sure people got exhausted and the deluge of characters made it seem like they were trying to push people pull too much too fast.

I get that they wanted to catch up, but they were too aggressive with it imo.

Personally felt it was a weaker version of the Danmachi system, needing a copies of units but being no where near as generous as Danmachi is.

Also the half auto control makes it harder to play in my view.

Been playing this since Day One, and it's a shame to see this go so soon for various reasons, some expected, but some not (such as being released at a bad time in hindsight). It wasn't the best gacha game I've played, but I enjoyed it for the most part. Especially since it was rare to get Symphogear stuff officially stateside.

it is simply a "money talks" scenario, they dont get people to throw money at Gacha and in the end the service has to shut down.

But the thing is why it didn't meet its projections. It's speculated that global was actually more or less US only, limiting the amount of people playing over here (it being more or less niche here didn't help). Compounded with it released about a month before the whole virus shutdown, leading to potentially less revenue. And being a new game for this region, unfortunately, that's a bad impression. Sigh, I wished this game did better, and better was handled (like opening it up to more regions).

There's not "speculated", the global version was only available in the United States, Canada, Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macao and South Korea. So whole continents were left out, like Europe, South America, Africa and huge chunks of Asia. That would have really restricted the potential player base, especially given how niche Symphogear is in the first place.

I'm UK based and used a VPN to download it, but the sheer barrage of events and limited time gacha (some even running simultaneously) burned me out. This wasn't helped by free currency being an absolute chore to grind, and the gameplay itself not being terribly fun.

Ahh, the "speculation" part applies to the whole post, because it's thinking on why the game failed. Makes me wonder how the actual numbers are divided up between the countries now after hearing it. I'll admit that I've concentrated on who is missing and not on who is still there. So thanks for the clarification and additional info.

And this game would've benefited from modern automation options like what Dragalia and KOF Allstars got, such as auto-repeats and skips tickets, given how automatic it was already. Maybe it's because of the lockdown that I didn't find the events coming too fast in a way, but I did find them doubling and overlapping events to be insane. Clearing the event is fine, but clearing the shop is another thing. So that I will agree on more normal circumstances. The problems with playing catch up I guess, and another bulletpoint to speculate on. Cue Nerdslayer's "Death of a Game" theme.

Kinda saw this coming seeing as it's not racking in money and the team is most likely being switched over to Sinoalice or other projects readying for English releases.

I've been playing on the JPN servers since launch and everything was phased in over the first year content wise. Arena / challenge cup, raids and hexa quests weren't even added till pretty recent. There was a wait so players could hit the caps put in place and then do the raids, hexa or challenge stuff to limit break past lvl 60 cards.

The ENG servers just not going in order and launching hexa, raid and other stuff right off the bat threw off the balance / now you have the mad dash to grind instead of taking it slow. I know a lot of fellow players felt like it was overwhelming from the get-go because stuff gets locked behind hexa quests and the challenge cup shop.

I honestly didn't feel like the ENG servers were overwhelming with time limit gatcha or events. The JPN servers get things put back in for the gatcha weekly / there's a nice system of older cards getting a 100 crystal max pull that auto gets you the card in question. I know up until yesterday we had like 3 events running at once and a long list of gatcha pools open.
