Comments on the video infer that during the six minutes of deleted footage, Coco commented on her channel's viewership demographics by region. YouTube Analytics lists Taiwan and China as separate regions.

So neither of them actually said anything, it was purely a Youtube thing.

lmao, what a joke

Is Hololive tied to the hip with Google/Youtube?

Coco being an English speaker could get really good numbers/money on Twitch during this 3 week off time.

Also, Taiwan is already independent. China lost that cultural battle long ago, lol.

hololive has just made statements that are extremely insensitive to residents of certain regions by upholding the PRC's nonsense.

A bad look for Cover Corp, prioritizing profit over talent.

I don't blame any region for wanting to separate from China with all their ongoing crimes against humanity. I guess if you have the money, you can have as many concentrat—I mean "re-education" camps as you like.

It is easy to dislike Hololive for suspending people over something so blatantly oppressive, but my opinion doesn't matter to them when China has the money.

Ironically enough one of Cover's CN branch talents streams a lot on Twitch, but they are allegedly based out of the US, so that may be why.

I know Coco's actress has her own personal YouTube channel that is still active, so Coco's actress would be fine if she "graduated" and went independent. I don't know about Hachama though.

On a related note, in Ghensin Impact, Kiryu Coco's name is being auto censored( in at least China).

Like Activision-Blizzard, Riot and all the company beholden to China's money all bid the will of the Chinese government. I like all the Hololive members but I have no good words for Cover.

In terms of de facto independence, yes, but in terms of formal recognition not really. Only 14 of the 193 member countries of the UN (plus Vatican City) formally recognize Taiwan, and most which that do are islands in the Caribbean or the Pacific Ocean. Most countries do maintain informal relations with Taiwan, though. Ideally, all parties involved would settle the dispute, but as long as most countries don’t formally recognize Taiwan (including the countries of North America, Europe, and other countries in East Asia, among most others), I don’t think I can hold it against a single company for following their lead.

Congrats Cover, you learned the lesson well. Step 1) crackdown on anything that might offend China. Step 2) release statement for international audiences defending your actions by saying its a response to something you just now decided to care about and in no way is this because you're kowtowing to Chinese money. "No politics" is the classic but "Confidential analytics" works in a pinch. Step 3) Release a statement to the Chinese audience making it exceedingly clear that you are kowtowing to Chinese mon...territorial integrity. Step 4) Hope no one notices you're trying to have your cake and eat it.

5 stars, Winnie the Poh approved, social credit go up.

They want their cake, they want your cake, then they want to sell you both, and afterwards eat them themselves. Great people.

China may STRONGLY disagree with your assertion.

It is 0230 right now, too tired cut exerts from more recent sources. But, China has not acknowledge Taiwan as independent nation.

Up until a few weeks ago Arab countries didn't acknowledge Israel existing. To them it was just like ISIS, except with some international support. More countries recognizing Taiwan would be best, unless we want another Hong Kong on our hands. I think many of us here don't care if a totalitarian state refuses to recognize its neighbor.

Everyone on the internet caving to the CCP's demands is scary. Those people can just declare anything they want and people will go along with it. Disney, Blizzard/Activision, Riot, etc.

Nah. You need to be a Twitch partner to make money, and that process takes a while in terms of getting a consistant viewer amount and watchtime over a few months. Unless she's already one she'd just have a basic Twitch account that can't get subs or bit donations. Also if you're a Twitch partner you forbidden from streaming on other sites so they wouldn't approve her unless she gives up her YouTube streaming, which I doubt she would and hololive would never approve of. That's not even covering how she'd probably lost most of her audience in the move to another platform, especially on the Japanese viewer side. Not worth it, just wait the suspension out
