While being unfortunate that I don't live in the stated 22 places nor I am close that I can travel nor I should travel at this point, I am still very happy for this push from the Japanese distributors.

Since M18, they have made a major push for Southeast Asia. Since M22, they have made a major push for the Gulf states. So the news are not unexpected, not to mention that during the now delayed German press release, the German source said they have been informed by the Japanese distributor to try to screen it around the Japanese release.

The question is if this is going to be an one-time thing or annual thing. Films in the DC series are two years in production cycle. For M25, production already started in 2019. The bulk of the production would be in 2020 for an original release of 2021. Since every film is now delayed for one year, in theory, they could finish production early and aim for simultaneous release every single year. The question is how much did the theatrical production was affected in 2020 and do they want to do this. It would boost visibility and potentially revenue, which is important, but tough to pull off in the long run given the scope of distributors you have to work with.

DC makes enough money in Japan already, but overseas, it has not faired that well outside of the traditional markets of East Asia. So there is LOTS of untapped potential even in places that already release DC on an annual basis.

Unlike so many other anime, DC is one of few franchises that does not lack money. So if they want to push for it, they can go out with a bang every year. Most importantly, pick up the most untapped market: North America. It would not be easy, but beneficial for the long run.

And in other news related to DC, the manga is on hiatus again and it will be back in two months. Detective Hiatus strikes again.

I'm still waiting on another film that takes place in the canon of The Darkest Nightmare. Also, I don't think I've seen ANN use the JP title so much in the article. Keep it up.

Pretty standard practice since 2018. As fans, are we supposed to be surprised?

Not to mention, I saw some Japanese fans celebrating for the upcoming weeks because they get the theatrical release of the Scarlett Alibi, the Ep.1000 commemorative project and the film. So much stuff is happening in the franchise.

It's pretty awesome that they're releasing the film worldwide, complete with all the dubbing done.

The Fist of the Blue Sapphire English dub is coming out in May 2021 so with the latest movie dubbed they're caught up on all the recent Conan movies (and I guess those are selling well enough for them to keep producing dubs of the films).

The teaser has Griffin Burns as Shinichi, so I think that's pretty much a yes.

This is great news. I think they recognize the potential for the franchise in NA, even if it is just the film series. There is definitely a market for this.

As for M23, I am curious to if they are going to keep the original English dialogue or dub over it. The English in this film is a lot better than M18.

It's not really a classic hiatus, it's more like the new release shedule for conan since 2018.
After Aoyama-sensei was in hospital two times, he is now working on the manga at a slower healthier pace - like 1 chapter finished in 2-3 weeks instead of just one. But the magazine releases them as 1 chapter per week for a full 3-4 chapter case, then a break of around 2 months. It makes sense, because like that you can still follow a case every week to its end without loosing flow.

Hey,

sorry but your news is partically WRONG.

I can tell you, that the movie might have been ONLINE released in Germany - but not in the cinema. We have in whole Europe no open cinemas, so how can that movie be shown there. Better check your sources next time, thank you.
