For all its faults, Pokemon anime franchise is the best, and most enjoyable anime adaptation of games, IMO.

edit: U have the image showing the 5 shorts... yet the article is titled as if there's only 2 new shorts being made... article needs to be updated and title changed

Would be cool if they made a pokemon show that was 12/26 episodes and roughly followed the classic game scenario (start with just starter, collect few pokemon for main team, evolve them, take on gym/E4/champ) with more of a focus on a fight strategy than "friendship is magic". I find myself pretty bored after a few episodes of the usual episodic pokemon show because they all feel so similar, lack sense of progression and most fight feel completely random.

The Pokémon Company International hasn't specifically said there would be five new shorts. It just showed that image that is in the article, teasing more.

They were talking about anime adaptations of games, not best adaptations of the Pokémon games, I believe.

Well, there is Pokemon Origins, which is a more closely related adaption of the first game's story. It may just be an OVA at 4 episodes, but... it's something at least.

Not to split hairs, but The Pokémon Company is the one on Japan that deals with Japan and most of Asia, while The Pokémon Company International has offices in the US and London and deals with the Americas, Europe, and Oceania. The account positing the shorts is TPC, not TPCI.

Perhaps u should go to said source but here i did it for u and proved am not making it up.

In The Anime Department

PokéToon

The Pokémon Company have announced a continuation of their PokéToon web series. PokéToon first premiered on the Japanese Pokémon Kids TV channel in June 5th 2020 with a short featuring Scraggy & Mimikyu done in a classic western animation style. Since then, nothing happened until a new one launched a few days ago. Today, The Pokémon Company have announced a continuation of PokéToon with at least four more episodes coming. These episodes come in differing art styles and showcase various elements of the Pokémon world

Source once more is Serebii.net, and here is the link to the copy/paste (Scroll down by a ton): https://serebii.net/news/2021/May.shtml

Now Sure, the pic shows 5 where as only at least 4 are mentioned, but its clear by the pic they're planning to make 5 more besides the 1st one (Scraggy) Either way, once again, this article is wrong which is why i pointed the correct info out

There’s nothing wrong in the article. 4 were announced by name so those are the 4 named in the article. Serebii is a fandom site so if they want to post speculative stuff so be it, but even from them it says “at least four” because that’s all that was announced. Pretending that’s an error here is a complete misunderstanding of how accurate reporting works, especially when the very thing you’re trying to claim is correct in response is in agreement with the article.
