How long ago were these opinions written? Godzilla Singular Point came out last week.

For maybe the first time in several seasons, there isn't any title this season that I'm hotly anticipating; even the sequels/spin-offs that I'm likely to follow (1,000,000 Lives, Honor Student, Slime 3, Dragon Maid) aren't high-priority titles for me. Hence I'll be looking for a few shows to impress me.

The most likely candidate looks to be The Detective Is Already Dead, but Realist Hero should be up my alley if it's being recommended for people who liked Maoyu and Spice & Wolf.

I'm honestly not sure what to choose as my most anticipated. It's a tie between Idolish7 (though I still haven't watched Second Beat) and Fena (slanderous, a Crunchy original but it seems good imo). Though I'm hyped for a bunch of other shows, I still have an embarrassing amount of catching up to do from the last two seasons lol.

I like Spice & Wolf and read some of the manga adaptation of Realist Hero. Parts of it are good but I’d suggest lowering your expectations quite significantly

Looks like it's another sequel-driven season for me: there's Kobayashi S2 - I'll watch almost anything from Kyoani -, the second cour of Slime S2, IDOLiSH7 S3 - I still need to catch up with S2 -, Idol Land Pripara - also need to catch up, but this one's trickier - and the technically not-sequel Love Live Superstar. And there's also Hamefura S2, but I'm not too terribly excited about it: might binge it later.

As for the non-sequels:

- Aquatope and Kageki Shoujo are probably my most anticipated titles: girl-meets-girl titles are something I can hardly resist and those two look especially good.
- Meikyuu Black Company looks pretty good for an isekai and follows the "everyone's a shithead"-formula like in Konosuba, not to mention the lead's being voiced by Kamina's seiyuu, so I think I'll give it a looksie.
- Isekai Drugstore looks like something specifically for my tastes: a laid back, relaxing SoL title, similar vein of Kuma Bear and Slime 300, except with a male lead. Whether it ends up being good is another matter.
- Re-Main is on my list because it deals with water polo, which is pretty big in my country and I'm personally connected to it somewhat, not to mention I liked the trailer.
- There's also Jahy, which starts pretty late in the season and by that time I probably weeded out what I actually want to follow weekly, so it has a great chance to end up on my list.

Otherwise, pass. Maybe I'll watch Sonny Boy if it ends up being good.

EDIT: also have I forgotten to mention there's like 3 titles from Silver Link in this season alone? I feel sorry about them, especially in this summer heat. At the very least Jahy starts out pretty late, with the caveat that it's 2-cour.

I’m mostly looking forward to Higurashi but some of the others like Sonny Boy sound like they could be good.

Villainess is now past where I read to — I hear it gets less funny but will certainly check it out.

Lol it's not like EVERYBODY loves it....I didn't watch a full episode from first season but I've seen enough to know I won't like it. Rolling Eyes

Uramichi Oniisan has the potential to be a sleeper hit; the PVs seem interesting.

I've read the first two manga volumes for this one. Its target audience is twentysomethings and thirtysomethings suffering from ennui, and much of its humor involves dealing with that and/or passing on very cynical "life lessons" influenced by that. It will definitely find an audience in Western anime communities, and I'll at least check it out to see how it adapts the manga.

I wish the upcoming anime list was properly maintained with synopsis for all of the shows so this would be easier.

Fena: Pirate Princess - the trailer caught my interest
RE-MAIN - I'm a sucker for sports anime so I'm going to watch it but the gimmick of a drowning incident causing amnesia is going a bit to far.

I'm looking forward to this one as well, and it took so long for Funimation to announce it that I was afraid it would get Netflix Jail'd.

This season should stop before the two actually not funny books get adapted. A third season would be more worrisome on that front.

I'd agree with this. It's also got a significantly higher harem factor than Spice & Wolf, so how you feel about that may color how much you enjoy the show.

Ah, excellent — thanks. Looking forward to it more unreservedly in that case.

Also the ninja doll thing is a cop-out on the whole premise imho (and just kind of silly).

As someone who works with young children who is not much older than Uramichi, the premise of acting cynical to kids just makes me kind of uncomfortable. No shade to people who like the series but it's a big "no thanks" for me.
