I love this. It shows how popular and ubiquitous anime and manga culture has become and how today's top athletes grew up with it. I remember watching Chen Lu's free skating performance in Lillehammer 1994 with Nausicaä's main theme and was quite excited: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MpFZyY_0_No
I can't remember any other athlete back then who used something related to anime in his/her performance.

I was in the kitchen making dinner and then I started to hear the faint sound of a song and I was like "is that Sailor Moon's OP?" and sure enough my family was watching the Uzbekistan performance at that moment.

Wow, didn't realise Australia had used an Akiko Shikata song. That's so cool!
I'd never heard of "artistic swimming" before, I guess it's kinda like synchronised swimming.

wish they'd used an umineko op tho

That there are people who remembered about Ar Tonelico already feels weird to me. Admittedly, a lot of the claim to fame the Exa Pico series have is the songs and lore, then character, and then maybe the gameplay and story (not that I care for AT Qoga gameplay or story - while Ar nosurge's was hampered by limited enemy for its fun combat).

Ar nosurge DX English when, man. If they don't want to translate the Ciel nosurge DX as well, then fine, as sad as that makes me after the English translated playthrough went down, but I'd take being able to replay Ar nosurge on PC any time of the day over not having the option at all.

Legit, Ar Tonelico III/Qoga and Ar nosurge were the reason I bought PS3 at its end of life cycle. Qoga was a dud, but Ar nosurge? Man, that was great, it just needed a bit more polish. Combat was fun, fighting hordes of enemies and maintaining the link combos. Lore was great - the concept of Interdimend was cool af, the idea of syphoning energy from our world through the PS3 and breaking the fourth wall? Freaking amazing. And characters were great - Ion, Nero, Nay, Cass, Delta... they're all so memorable. It was worth getting PS3 and Ar nosurge, even if I missed a lot from not playing the JP-only Ciel nosurge from PSV.

I miss Exa Pico series as a whole man. I'm glad the Atelier series had only went up since Atelier Iris, Mana Khemia, Arland, Dusk, and then blowing up with Ryza. But I wish Exa Pico has its own Ryza, or even Dusk growth as well.

A shame, because all the songs in the series are great. Akiko Shikata, Haruka Shimotsuki, and ORIGA (rest in peace) did great in the series.

Akiko Shikata at the Olympics is something I am happy to see and especially Ar. Who knew that the game would be remembered aside from the hardcore fans. lol Disappointed Passionate Duelists wasn't used at the Olympics.
