I'm real curious to see what the episode count is going to be like for this. Anything less 3 cours is probably going to be a mess, and I'm curious to see how they're going to work around this being part three of a trilogy.

At this point, I’ve given up on there being anime adaptations of Extra and Unlimited. Hopefully, the anime adaptation turns out decent regardless.

I'm more concerned about how everything looks and feels so...bland? Which is kind of an achievement in and of itself, considering the original trilogy had bland 'moege' designs intentionally to reflect the twist between Extra and Unlimited. The KimiNozo adaption at least kept the characters roughly close to their original VN look and almost the feel of the VN in general with the colors the show went with as a whole, not even to mention the Haruka Maniax OVA just oozing the original VN in general.

The character redesigns, the blandness of the animation in general, the fact they're only doing Alternative (instead of Extra and Unlimited as well) most likely means character development for Takeru'll get torn out for the most part unless they can come up with a smart way of incorporating all of the development he gets from Unlimited into Alt makes me think this is just being done to say they did it and not because they generally want to do a good job.

Even the music seems weirdly weak which is an odd thing to say considering this is the series, and more specifically the part that gave us Asu e no Houkou, Name, Metamorphose and 0-Gravity.

The additional casting is alright outside of Chizuru and that makes me sad to say I really like Ito Miku, just she doesn't sound the part for that character.

Artstyle is so so to me. It's fairly bland but I've seen worse in terms of bland art. PV makes it look less bland to an extent.

Been listening to Kamitsubaki Studio's stuff which is in charge of the Virtual Witch Phenomenon stuff to get an idea. Seems they're using all their characters for it, no idea if they're real people behind it similar to vtubers or if its all vocaloid style. Some music is alright from them but this song didn't really stick out for me in the pv.

As for episode count I believe they said 24. Honestly I'm going in with this that it's not really going to back like the Alternative VN from what they've said in the past and honestly I think this is a good and bad thing. It's been nearly 20 years since the VN and honestly there's a good chunk of people who know little of the franchise so trying to keep it tied to VN to appease the VN purists will fail on both ends. Fact we're also getting new seiyu lends to this whether it be good or bad in the end. Bad side is we're thrown right in to Alternative itself. We needed build up no matter even if it was a couple of OVA series for Extra and Unlimited.

The OP song sounds good. SDF are performing the ED theme. They have a great history of good songs so they won't disappoint. Miku Itou, the voice of Isora, is here. Happy to see.

The new VA's sound like they're trying to imitate the VN VA's. Not that that's a bad thing, but...by that logic, just use the VN VA's. Not that I'm against Miku Itou or Lynn.

The animation for the TSF's looks the best.

The Opening and Ending themes sound good but I hope they're holding Minami Kuribayashi in reserve.

I think this looks pretty promising. The character design is subdued, but I don't think it's bland. The mecha animation seems sweet and solid.

My biggest concern is how the hell they'll cram that much world-building and character development in just two cours. So far, it looks like they'll rely on a lot of flashbacks.

I don't mind the new VAs. After all, veteran VAs often warrant higher pay and they also aren't guaranteed to be available. But yeah, kinda hope they'll get Minami Kurbayashi and JAM Project to sing one or two songs.

The most obvious problem for this adaptation is that Alternative is more or less unwatchable, if you have not read Extra and Unlimited. The second problem is that MuvLuv has A LOT of very long talks, which will be difficult to adapt into anime format.

the secrecy of this project does not inspire faith. Also, no one even knows Muv-Luv globally so the hype and marketing being pretty thin does not help

The Kickstarter for the English-language version of the VN raised $1.2 million — more than double the next biggest VN Kickstarter — and the games have now been out there on Steam for a number of years. The global fandom may be small, but it’s not “no one”.

In fact, that’s probably the thing to watch for with the anime: are they making it to please the existing fanbase, or to find an entirely new fanbase? IMHO, coming more than 15 years after the original VN, the latter is the only course of action that makes any sense.
