Interesting to see this get an anime adaptation when the novels just... stopped several years ago.

It'll also be interesting to see whether or not audiences will go for it. Superficially it's "just another Isekai," but it's overall approach to the fantasy genre has much more in common with 90s fare like Record of the Lodoss War.

How did you come to this conclusion?

Which one?

If the former, it's been three or four years since the last book was published, and it was just a short story collection. If the latter, Faraway Paladin eschews many of the naked wish-fulfillment tropes and focuses more on D&D-style content: questing and combat.

To add to that, even the webnovel went on hiatus around the time the fifth volume came out.

Makes me wonder what the author has been up to as I can't find anything else from him after that?...

Good to know. A novel on hiatus randomly getting an anime adaptation? Very much sounds like the author is timing a comeback alongside the anime (or rather, the anime might've been timed to coincide with the novel's resumption).
