YAY!!! I read the manga (...not legally) and it is fantastic! The author is so good with character interactions, and the manga artist who adapted the light novels is fantastic at expressions and shaping the panels!
Both the manga and the light novels are coming to America this month and I'm buying them to support the author and artists, so if you're curious about this one I highly recommend. It's a bit different from Hamefura, but it is a load of fun! |

I'd like to see "The Villainous Noble Woman’s Slow Prison Life" or something get adapted into anime. A very unique story and a hilarious one at that. Sadly the manga adaptation only lasted a few chapters before getting the axe so not very likely.

It didn't get axed, it was just an advertisement for the light novel and ended exactly where they wanted it to to motivate people to read it |

It seems that Hamefura has followed the same fate as ReZero and Konosuba. These works were supposed to parody and deconstruct the over-usded genre, but in the end only gave a huge new push to its popularity. Now, as with the first two works, I constantly hear people attacking Bakarina, thinking that this is literally a pioneer of the genre and not a rather ironic parody of it.

Why would a parody or deconstruction of a genre lead to said genre becoming less popular? This reminds me of a conversation I had with my brother where he said he was surprised someone could like both watchmen and marvel/dc comics as if parodies/deconstructions are meant to be hateful or geared towards people who hate said genre. Also, is Hamefura a parody? Or is this another one of those situations where the only good shows in 'X' genre must be a parody/deconstruction of that genre. |

It does not interfere, but these works were clearly not conceived with such a goal. ReZero even contains "you suck speach" about otaku fantasy, while Hamefura pokes fun at how everyone falls in love with the MC of such stories. Yes, parodies are often friendly, when the author, along with a mockery, wants to express their love for the genre. For example, Nozaki-kun's Monthly Manga does things that way. But these works clearly sought to point out the problems. |
