Yugo Kanno composing the music? Does this mean Katsuo Ono is done, or is it like One Piece Film Gold where it's just a one-time thing?
Honestly, I hope for the former. I don't hate Katsuo Ono's music (in fact his early works are pretty good) but his soundtracks always consist of tracks of like 20-40 seconds long... not very fun to listen to on its own.

No it wasn’t. It was cancelled and never given a public announcement of the cancelation much less a reason for it. A press member attending ANYC had to ask about the status of the event.

I think Ono is semi-retired/fully retired considering he is 82 and has been working with other composer on the Conan films for a bit already. But I think this year, he is really taking a step back. He is still involved, but he no longer plays a major role. Kanno said in his tweet that Ono is struggling to find someone suitable to carry on the composer role for the Conan franchise.

I have always really enjoyed his music and I think without him the Conan franchise would be missing a key component. He may not be Kouchi Kazunari, but he is still incredibly important to the franchise.

The cancellation of AnimeNYC screening went unexplained. There still isn't any official word from TMS Entertainment USA. Something must have happened.

I personally would have appreciated even a “due to unforeseen circumstances, The Scarlet bullet has been pulled from ANYC’s lineup.” At least an announcement like they did for Lupin. I know not many people care for Conan but you can’t just announce something and not follow up on it.
