So, I guess that's all we get for now? I was hoping they'd continue with the next arc seeing that we're only midway through the winter season.

the first episode of this arc is also 45 minutes, so length-wise they'll have put out the equivalent of 13 episodes with the final episode, which is... a standard season

The first season was 26 episodes and covered several arcs. However the second season consisted of the televised retelling of the Mugen Train arc and the Entertainment District arc, and has come in at 17 episodes. So it would seem that the latter arcs are longer, and maybe the producers didn't think they could add another arc to this season and still be able to keep it at 26 episodes without it feeling rushed.

The animation and story telling has been top notch in the Entertainment District arc. So if they think they need more time to give us the same high quality production and attention to detail for the next arc, I'm all for it.

Hopefully, they wont choose to make another movie out of the next arc, and we'll get season 3 sooner.

Much better than Spirited Away, for sure.

Not a huge fan of DS but gotta admit that it is leagues ahead of current gen battle shonen like AoT, MHA, JJK, etc.

I think I'll forgive them if they keep up this animation like this last episode (holy smokes!). Quibbling about the story aside - it's obviously not for everyone - the animation is impeccable. I've been an anime fan since the 90s and an animation aficionado for my whole life and I've got to say...that was some amazing animated action. The animators deserve whatever awards are coming their way.

Have you...read or watched AoT? I don't know how you can call it a "generic battle shonen," if the answer is yes. Love it or hate it, AoT is many things, but I don't see the similarities with MHA or JJK, especially at this point in the AoT's story. If anything, JJK is closest to DS, as their basic concept of young people battling demons is fairly uniform. However it is what they do with said settings, characters, themes that make them stand out.

Unless I am being baited, which considering your Spirited Away comment is very likely, but your comment makes the opposite of sense to me. Can you define "generic" as you are using it here?

Fairly certain ‘gen’ means ‘generation’ not ‘generic’ here (and only the former often gets shortened that way).

Not that I’d define a 2016-2020 manga with a current anime as part of a different generation, either.

With the massive revenues from the film (taking over $500m) they would be stupid not to carry on the Film>TV adaptation>Film approach of Dragon ball, Detective Conan, Goblin Slayer (although its film didn't do as well) etc...

From what I heard it’s 45 minutes after commercials. So probably more like 37 minutes streaming.

Exactly. I think films make more money in general. Heck, look at Conan these days, all resources/personnel/budget are allocated to the annual films. While DS's story is complete, it is definitely possible they will continue to do more films.
