Is the protagonist a gender-flipped Kotoko Iwanaga?

The character designs and music seem on-point. Also, Kaori Nazuka!

I've heard the source game's story is nonlinear; in that you can choose between 3 quest arcs and various other mini arcs before choosing the final quest arc (and that the final arc is accessible once you finish any one of the 3 quest arcs).

Given this issue, how could the anime adapt the game's story given this nonlinearity?

This would feel pretty random to adapt now unless SquareEnix are actually pushing for a bigger focus on the Mana-series after the huge success of the Trials-remake.
There's already a (not very promising) gacha named Echoes of Mana underway and I could see them potentially also remaking Legends with a decent budget now, after they remastered the original last year.

Simple: Make it mostly an episodic show, where each episode focuses on one of the various mini-arcs (most could be done in just a single episode), with the larger arcs being done as multi-parters. The larger arcs could be done in maybe 3-4 episodes each, to be honest, so if that was to be a 2-cour show (24-26 episodes), it could be split up half episodic stories, half longer arcs.

Also, considering the subtitle & who they revealed so far, I imagine that only one of the longer story arcs will actually be given the lion's share of focus, anyway. The other two might still be included, but if so then they'll be given less focus.
