I knew it. Jesus H. Christ, I knew it.

If the movie was gonna be broadcast on TV after its theatrical run, then doing a movie is just a cash-grabbing redundancy.

So...basically the movie gets turned into a proper season 4 and airs on TV afterwards, and that will probably be streamed normally...?

Unless the movie winds up being 4 hours long, no, there just wouldn't be enough to constitute an entire TV season. Sounds more like it's getting a short run in theaters in Japan before being broadcast on TV as a movie.

I thought this would be good news since that means people who aren't in Japan can watch it faster than 8 months later, but apparently this somehow makes them even more greedy?

Almost every anime movie is broadcast on TV in Japan at some point. Belle was scheduled for last Friday, for example, until it was delayed by the assassination.

I can't speak to Kaguya-sama, but the Demon Slayer movie "episodes" went to streaming AFTER the movie was already available for streaming. That being said, I don't recall how long each wait was (Japanese movie theaters --> foreign movie theaters --> movie streaming ---> episode streaming), nor do I know how long the usual wait time is for Japanese movies coming to streaming.

There's no logic to your statement. The production model for a film, regardless if it plays in theater or not, is completely different than that of a TV series. It's less punishing gives more space for the animators to do their job. More often than not, the end product is more polished than their TV counterpart. And what is there to complain about the broadcast of the film on TV? It can only be a boon to audiences outside of Japan. Such histrionics is uncalled for.

Looking forward to the film, whenever it comes out. It'll be nice to be able to see it on the big screen if a distributor decides to pick it up.
