Now this is a pleasant surprise. I had hoped that doing season 2 after so many years meant they were planning more, but it also wouldn't have been the firs time that I've seen an anime resurface after years of dormancy, only to disappear again.

I had this feeling that it would as unlike s1, this season felt a little slow and like they were holding back. looks like it is here to stay for awhile.

Hehe 8 years of people begging for a continuation now they are getting it bulk. Enjoy.

I find it a little ironic that we had to wait so long on a second season while a third season is now a thing without any wait.

I wish that they'd clarify what they meant since a sequel being announced doesn't mean a 3rd season has been announced.

It would've been a waste for them to bring the show back without adapting the next arc, so I'm glad to see it happening, but I hope they improve the production values and direction for the next season.

It means it's a split cour, and the second half will air in 2023 (TVアニメ「はたらく魔王さま!!」続編が2023年放送決定). ANN's news translation quality strikes again.

I suspected this to be the case. Why revive the anime after 8 years just to make 12 episodes.

Depending on where the second cour will end, we might end up getting a third cour

I won't pull any punches on this: season 2 was a disappointment. The story moved at a glacial pace, the characters came off as reactive and the season lacked a unified direction for the vast majority of its runtime. Even if season 3 turns out to be better, does that really justify a mediocre season 2? I personally don't think so.

I genuinely hope season 3 is better and if it's not, I can always have fun tearing it to pieces.

I really wish that this whole "budget" thing would just die already. It's not about getting more money, it's about getting a better schedule, which sadly is something that Kadokawa is awful at doing. And the fact that this is coming next year already means the schedule is likely not already better.

第2期 続編 means continuation of 2nd season. It’s not a new season, just a second cour of 2nd season.

Based on the description from this tweet https://twitter.com/anime_maousama/status/1575500647314628608, Ente Isla arc (Vol 8-10) will be adapted so it’s possible there will be a third cour.

Shame season 2 was so mediocre that I don't really care anymore.

Doesn't a better schedule mean people work on it for longer? It takes more money to pay people for more hours.

It doesn't. If anything, bad schedules can lead to even more money being used, as lack of time leads to unpolished animation, which can lead to resorting to outsourcing, which by itself is costy as you are literally hiring an entirely different team to do your job.
