That was unexpected....

What about possible conflicts of interest from now on? I know it's a stupid question but better get the fact straight. Yes, I know it's mentioned in the press release that independence will be maintained, but still.

Usually if there's a possible conflict of interest they post a disclosure at the bottom. They've done this with for most stuff involving Bandai Namco. Having that information posted usually helps dispel a lil bit of that for me.

Every time I see claims that something is going to "dramatically improve", especially if it doesn't look like it's in dire need of improvement, I always get worried.

One of the advantages/improvements I can see coming from this is a bit more of a direct access to certain bits of news or more exclusives ones that pertain to Kadokawa.

My only hope is that they don't make any changes to the overall site and the way news is brought to use here.

Didn't the Chinese company TenCent buy partial ownership of Kadakawa recently?

No, just a minority stake (6.8%, or thereabouts). It was billed as a business partnership, though.

Not a huge concern, unless that minority stake becomes a majority.

Interesting. Curious what changes if any we'll see in the near term. Kadokawa seems to at least be pretty free with their content creators so I'm not really concerned about the acquisition.

This will be interesting. I wonder if they will try to broaden the user base by breaking up the ideological hug box this site is well known for?

So, is that it for running ads not affiliated with Kadokawa? I see the banner ad is for a YenOn novel which makes sense, but will Seven Seas, Viz or any other manga publisher have access to the ad space?
