From what we see of the choreography in the trailer, he’s not lying. That body blow is right out of Ippo, to the point you expect to see the wind go out the other end. That’s a marked departure from Stallone’s choreography.

So this might be the closest thing to a Live action Ippo.

The guy says he takes anime inspirations and we're suppose to fawn over it like trained dogs I'm sorry but no they literally disrespect Stallone and his character at every turn and then won't even give the man his character rights back and expect me to watch creed 3 cause he talks a little anime he is just gonna have to pull out more knowledge than just picking mainstream names out of a hat to get me to watch creed 3 without any Stallone influence

It's not that deep. Either watch the movie or don't. No one is forcing you.

I love how you took the time to go on this whole rant as if anybody genuinely cares about you of all people watching the movie or not.

*raises hand*

I care.

It's nice to see American creators admit they take influence from anime now. Before they used to just steal from it and hope no one noticed like with Black Swan.

Although I can't say I'm all that interested in this movie regardless of its inspirational roots.

Uhhhh....what?

Darren Aronofsky is one of the most unapologetic anime fans in the film industry, and will literally take every opportunity he can to sing the praises of Satoshi Kon in particular.

Yes, his films are littered with Satoshi Kon homages, but he always specifies and credits them as much.

They made him punch drunk and broke, capped off by having him fight the champion (his former trainee) in the streets?

Or had him come out of retirement to have one last fight?

Clearly you’ve not watched any of the Rocky movies after the fourth.

influence

So with this issue having happened around the production of the first movie all the way back in 1976 I presume you’ve taken that stance with all the movies that preceded the Creed films?

On a more positive note, Rocky III is actually when Stallone started directing (his previous credit for directing was the maligned Paradise Alley, but III is when he became a successful director). So Jordan directing Creed III makes a lot of sense.

Granted, Jordan has to top Rocky fighting Mr. T and Hulk Hogan in the same movie.
