Basically - Suzuki misappropriated funds while giving a lot of money to his mistress straight from Ghibli's studio pocket, and that was the cause of a conflict of interest between him and Hoshino.

For those of you that didn't know or not aware, Toshio Suzuki is currently facing a scandal involving having a girlfriend from Thailand and mis-appropriating funds. I've known the scandal since late March, and I'm surprised ANN didn't report on this given some mainstream attention it got via Variety, CBR, etc....
Uh ANN, why wasn't this reported earlier given that several mainstream media had reported this since late March? |

My guess is that ANN's editorial policy doesn't see the tabloid that broke the news about Suzuki's scandal as a trustworthy enough source, and they're waiting for more "reputable" Japanese media to "report" on it - in other words, parrot Ghibli's official press release which naturally will never come because admitting their leader f-ked up would be bad PR for the studio. |

Variety and Cartoon Brew, like ANN, did not post on this until Ghibli's official statement on Tuesday.
