I'm a tiny bit concerned that they don't seem to be following the comic super closely, but everything else looks and sounds like it was plucked straight from my dreams. Idk if I can wait until November

This look better than I thought. It still amazes me that the cast from the live action Scott Pilgrim movie are back to voice their characters for the anime.

I’m super hyped! I hope they cover material from the comics that didn’t make the live action movie, like Knives’ dad.

Omg Mr. Chau vs Scott animated by Science Saru would be legendary!

Science Saru seems like a really good choice for a studio to do this (even with Masami Yuasa's retirement from the studio --- post Yuasa Science Saru has been something of a mixed bag).

I haven't seen much of what Góngora's directed, though.

The biggest thing was capturing the style and aesthetic of the comic and so far it seems like they've done a great job with it.

It is, in fact, an anime.

While I guess since the studio is japanese it falls under the definition of anime... Since the original audio language is english, I can't see myself putting it on my anime watchlist even if I wanted to watch it... I would probably put it on my western cartoon watchlist if I even cared.

So what does Afro Samurai and Blood the last vampire count?

Both of those were made with the dub as the original language.

Well, it's Gongora first-time full direction outside the short episode in Star Wars Vision - but he's basically one of the core Science Saru members since its existence and has worked on every Yuasa project since Ping Pong, so it is in relatively good hands.

Duh, it's the same anime as something like Panty & Stocking or anything that's a bit out of the usual style - because the definition of anime is not supposed to be considered by how it looks.

Even with the director being Spanish-born, it's actually nothing considering he's a core member of Science Saru and worked there since its existence.
