Increasing my hype! They are masterful composers. Can't wait to have the whole OST released.
The first teaser had me meh. The full trailer had me cautiously optimistic. The theme has me loving it!

The theme is quite generic imo. Getting zero OP vibes from it, sounds like it could be in any adventure show/movie. Tanaka is still unmatched.

It sounds like something that would be in Pirates of the Caribbean. It’s up to you if that’s good or bad, but I wasn’t expecting a 1:1 of “We are!”

Just a reminder people this is a Netflix they don't have a good track record of live action animes death note and cowboy bebop for example so keep your expectations low so you won't be disappointed if it sucks oh well at least we still have the anime and manga.

Sounds like an off-key Toei composition that would play in a tie-in game or something while going against a mid-level boss. The one thing the anime 110% nailed is the music and most of the score is timeless. I would simply recompose half of it if I had to show run a live-action adaptation.

A lesser Pirates of the Caribbean wannabe score isn´t what will make or break the show of course. The show has 2 of the 3 The Witcher by Netflix composers. The more you know.

This was the perfect time to bring in an orchestral version of the One Piece rap, just saying...

I had a listen and found it to be uninspiring and bland. Then again I am no expert in music or composition but it didn't sound like something that would come from One Piece.

It would be nice if they worked "We Are" into the show at some point.

It's pretty bassy, and in that minor key makes it sound a bit grim. Sort of a Hans Zimmeresque strings 'n brass track. I expected a bit more brightness and colour in a One Piece score.

Which also applies to the people who whine about live action adaptations supposedly pissing on the original source material.

It's okay, but I was thinking a full orchestral theme including Bink's Sake as major motif would have been a great opportunity. Definitely not as good as the Black Sails opening theme in my opinion. Idk, maybe it'll fit better with the visuals, but it lacked that jovial adventure filled nature I was expecting.

I wasn’t expecting a totally anime sounding soundtrack but this vibe doesn’t feel very “fun.” Kind of clashes with the cartoony look of the series.

A bit too Pirates of the Carribbean for me. But at least it's an original song and not just copy-pasting We Are like they did with Tank for Cowboy Bebop. There has to be a happy middle ground between these two methods.

There are thousands of things wrong with the Cowboy Bebop adaptation, but using one of the most famous OP's in anime history that's synonymous with the series itself wasn't one of them.
