A-yo whaaaaaaaat??????? No way.

Oh and if it's going straight to Netflix, does that mean they might dub the first 2 seasons? Surely NIS America's license has expired by now.

This is my surprise too. I didn't think Kimi Ni Todoke would get a sequel anime too. I think the live-action J-drama adaptation did so well it might have led to this sequel announcement. But I can't wait to see this.

I was wondering the same thing, i think every anime from Netflix except Saiki K S2 (excluding the reawakened one) will guaranteed getting a dub.

I have put some odds titles in my increasingly cursed list of 'continuations greenlit before Land of the Lustrous S2' but this really takes the cake. Hot damn.

Honestly, I'm kind of torn over this. I have warm memories, & genuinely love most of the cast, but I tried to rewatch it about 4-5 years back & honestly found the pacing interminable. And given that S2 was the one with the reputation for spinning its wheels nearly the entire time, I'm worried I just don't have patience for the show's speed anymore.

Maybe thing's will be better now that the initial hurdle (ie. confessing) has been cleared. I might give it another try & see if I'm a better frame of mind for it before S3 airs.

Ooh, nice. I really loved the first adaptation.

I am just a bit worried, though. I don't remember where exactly the first anime left off, but I definitely remember the manga running out of steam in the back half -- and while I appreciate how the big narrative choices deftly avoided some of the more tedious genre cliches, it did leave me wondering if the story really needed as many chapters as it got.

Still, it'll be nice to see everyone again.

You can say what you want about Netflix but I love how they invest in anime that would very likely would not have been made without their involvement. Same with Dinsey plus and their upcoming Phoenix anime.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. One hand I'm happy to see more of these characters grow and develop. On the other, it's Netflix with an anime, which is a bit of a mixed bag.

Sweet sassy molassy! In an earlier post today I was whining about my desire for a TV sequel to The Saga of Tanya the Evil, but dang, I'll take this. Loved, loved, loved the original and it's a crime it has taken so long to get more.

I wonder if this has come about due to possible success from Netflix's live action adaptation?

Unlike the anime, I only got about 4 episodes through before dropping it...

Interesting. A little surprising. I think Netflix must see what MHM is doing and felt like greenlighting something close enough to keep the steam going.

It's funny to me that it's noted KnT is a best-seller, because there's a few shoujo titles that always rank/sell well. I still hope Yona will get a new season. (A lot of venting on how that anime is being treated...) And what burns me up just a little bit, is that Netflix got 7 Seeds, only to let it become a hot mess. I would love if Mystery could get an anime adaptation, but what would happen to that one.

For the people that have read the manga, is a third season enough (even with a hypothetical double cour) to finish the manga?
