Woohoo! Shame season one wasn’t 24 episodes like Initial D, but I’ll take what I can get! This and Overtake! made me want to watch Initial D to begin with.

My guess each season will be one qual and one race itself. Not a bad idea overall.

As a car enthousiast I was really looking forward to this series, but in the end it was mostly just utterly disappointing. Poorly written characters, almost no world building, but worst of all: the racing was mostly just plain boring and devoid of any realism. Even when Overtake was more about the drama than the racing, overall it was the much, much better series.
So yeah, I'll probably still gonna torture myself with the second season 
(it's not like we get a lot of car/racing related anime in the first place....) |

I'm surprised a second season was greenlit. This is nowhere near the charms of Initial D. The characters are weak, world building is non existent and even the races are boring. It's missing something that I really liked about Initial D.
At least the eurobeats are good here but that's the only good thing about this series. Even the occasional cameo and name drops of characters from Initial D doesn't help this series. I'll still watch the second season once it airs even though I already dropped the manga after the first race. |
