It’s a shame Yen Press gave up on the Sound Euphonium light novels after just one volume. But if they couldn’t make it work, who could?

Do I have to watch the movie or is just S1 and S2 fine to catch up?

S1 & 2 follow Kumoko's first year, the movie - Our Promise: A Brand New Day - follows the second year, with additional content in Liz & The Blue Bird, and this season is the third year.

Note that there's also two recap movies that have a few additional scenes, but can be safely skipped. But if you already watched the first two seasons and need a refresher, they're also on Crunchyroll in the US.
