I never read it, but I heard it was pretty bad.

I wonder if Viz will bother giving it a physical release.

I wouldn't say that it's bad, the earliest chapters had more than enough potential for it to be a long runner and while chinese theme in action shonen isn't new, for a long time now they haven't been as widespread as they were in the past. The problem is the same as usual with Jump mangas, the requirements for continuation are just too high too soon so they have to literally jump ( no pun intended ) to their beginning to end without elaborating on what should have been in-between, so it makes for an incoherent and wasted story.

I wouldn't call it bad. Utterly devoid of creativity, flair, or proper pacing, but bad feels too cruel for something I'm still reading, in contrast to Nue Sexorcist. Objectively mediocre, then. A shame; I dug the Chinese aesthetic.

Another one bites the dust. This time I think it was a correct choice though, this one had potential but it just doesn't deliver anything special.

Talk about aging poorly.

I would argue being boring is worse than being bad.

I wouldn't call it boring. It's simply... Chinese Naruto, but instead of ninjas, taoist exorcists (or something like that). Nothing we haven't seen a dozen times. The real surprise is that it lasted so long, specially ranking so low in sales (Shoseki) and hits (Jump+).
Maybe in WSJ would have more success or it would have been axed early because it remind it to bigger, better works.

In any case, nobody can say the author is not doing his best with the art. I am sure it will be a great looking ending.

But I wonder why ANN didn't care about Diamond in the Rough ending (or maybe I missed the news) -and that was a better series in writing and art.

Yeah, same. It felt like it was riding the coattails of Demon Slayer, which is a shame because I like the characters were much more compelling than Demon Slayer.

The series did feel like it was rushing through the story. Like the magic system is all over the place. Like they’re sealing these Jiangshi at the beginning, but later they’re blowing them to bits left and right.

I read the first chapter because I love jiangshi but man, it was just Naruto. I don't even remember if I bothered with the second chapter because it was just so by the numbers. I knew it'd get axed from chapter 1 so the fact it survived this long is... Impressive.
But I'm not a fan of typical shounen so maybe I missed some appeal it had. Or maybe it had none. No clue.
