Great news! I love this show to death, and Maomao has cemented her place as one of my favorite characters in recent memory.

Will definitely be picking up the light novels once they drop in stores (I bought the first 2 manga volumes from B&N the day after the 3-episode premiere, which was when the light novel localization also happened to drop, so now I'm unsure if I need to continue the manga).

I regret having reloaded my Natalie page before watching the last episode, it spoiled the sequel confirmation at the end. See you next year poison junkie or sooner in the LN.

Totally expecting this to drop. Let the wait begins!

The question is if S2 will also be 2-cour.

It should be because the big story arc that started here with Suirei machinations ends exactly in two LN volumes. It will be super dumb of them not to adapt all of it as it is a perfect stopping point in case they do not plan to make more anime.

My initial excited reaction: "Oh shit!"

*Sees 2025* "Oh no!"

So you're saying if I want to find out the answer to that mystery I have to go read the light novels?

No surprise, given that it was second only to Frieren in last fall's anime (and maybe this season too, save maybe Solo Leveling), but I was still delighted when the episode ended on that announcement.

Looking forward to seeing Maomao, Jinshi, Gaoshun, the consorts, the Three Princesses, Xiaolan, Luomen, and of course Maomao in season 2!

'Fraid so. Nekokurage's manga hasn't even gotten to the end of LN4 yet.

What a fantastic day for the sequels of popular anime! I guess I’ll be surprised all over again once 2025 comes because I’ll never remember that far away lol

Based, if we get a Frieren S2 announcement as well, then I'll be sated.

Great news! I started watching this anime a bit late, but it wasn't long before I was hooked. Looking forward to season 2, especially since I plan to read the light novels in the meantime.

I just meant they should make it 2-core again to cover the remaining part of big story arc.

But if you meant to read the manga, yes, it only covered about 30% of LN vol. 4 in JP so far and only started it in English version.

For those looking to read ahead:

What we have seen so far in the anime corresponds to the first two volumes of the light novel and manga volumes through half of volume 8. The remainder of volume 8 takes us a couple of chapters into volume 3 of the novel.

The manga version currently has 11 volumes released in the US. Volume 12 is due in September.

The digital version of the novel has 10 volumes currently released in English with volume 11 due to release in May. Volume 1 of the hard copy version is also due to release in May.

The novel version is well worth reading in my opinion. It has details left out of the anime or not really clear.
