I am extremely excited for this.

Now because I'm still somewhat of an anime noob, can someone tell me how long in usually takes to go from manga in Japan, to anime in America? Or at least to Japanese TV, where I can keep up with fansubs?

Theres really no set time limit for when a manga is made into an anime. In this case probably not long since I doubt that much of this new manga will be out when the anime starts production so they will be a bit different probably.
