I saw a preview screening of it on Tuesday and loved it. It captures on what I can envision on what a two hour episode of Speed Racer would be like. It is hammed up pretty well and all the signature moves are in the movie.

The amount of fast flashy colors will be convulsing if you're not use to it but the fans of the series will love it. This might not go over well with the non-anime fans, thought, IMHO.

Remember kids, if you pay for Speed Racer and don't torrent it, it's good for anime. Wink Besides, you don't really wanna see an old guy try on an iron leotard for two hours again, do you? Rolling Eyes

Anyway, I'm surprised WB hasn't advertised Speed Racer or Ex Machina with anime websites. Do they not want their target audience to be aware of these things?

Edit: Shouldn't it be today, not Friday? People will think it's next week.

Seeing this is like seeing my childhood raped. I'm sorry, but I can't say I'm liking what I see here.

Chiaki: Yeah, I retract my previous comment. If anime needs to be saved, it needs to be saved by people who know how to write.

the movie was great. i went in with low expectations but i think they did a great job with it. the art direction was phenomenal, and the stupid over-the-toppedness is on par with tengen toppa. the whole movie was ridiculous to a point that made it awesome. (think army of darkness)

Argh. WHY do I have to live an hour away from the closest movie theatre, and WHY do theatres in Japan charge $18 a ticket?!

No wonder I liked it.

Now if only we could just make sure the brothers' contract said "No trilogies based on commercial success."
