Maybe Kodansha will finally start its American manga publishing branch over a year later?

I don't know if I should be glad but I was especially I haven't buy ID set, yet... it'd waste my money if I didn't find this out. So what will Kodansha do next? Sad

Even though it's published by Dark Horse, I hope the Kodansha license-yanking doesn't affect Oh My Goddess!, though I suppose, in the worst case scenario, I could always switch to buying the French version (even if it's still flipped, blargh).

Unless Dark Horse says something, I wouldn't worry, since they just picked up Chobits, Cardcaptor Sakura, and Magic Knight Rayearth for omnibus editions, (all of which Tokyopop had before). :]

Well, that's lousy. Some of the volumes of Love Hina I'm missing are out of print, and Tokyopop had apparently planned to reprint them. Guess I'll have to scrounge around for them at some point.

YES!!!! Hears hoping for Love Hina to finally get a decent release!!! I've been looking forward to the all new Akira version for a while now, so things are looking up!

According to Amazon.com publication dates, Kodansha Comics will debut in October with Akira and Ghost in the Shell.

I really wonder what problem Kodansha has with Tokyopop ... and it's not very nice for the readers and fans to just force Tokyopop to cancel all ongoing series and even without giving a reason ...

Hey, would this include Kodocha? Does that fall under this or did Tokyopop let that license disappear further back. I read all ten volumes at my local library but never got around to buying them like I wanted to.

I haven't been buying Rave Master recently, but darn, weren't they only a few volumes from finishing the series?

Holy shoot, Kodansha better not back out on Del Rey too. If they do that, not only will I be screwed on a bunch of series, but Del Rey's manga section will be absolutely slaughtered.

I don't care about Tokyopop though. Most of those series are out of stock anyway, so the only people this really affects are collectors (who are probably getting their first editions ready for eBay as we speak).

oh WHEW! At least I can pick up CCS in one go; I never got around to buying it when it was out by TP. Chobits is a bit disappointing for me, as I have several volumes already - guess I'll just give those to friends and pick up the omnibus edition.

1- Kodocha's license expired awhile back.

2- Del Rey's licenses should remain unaffected- they picked up the last 4 volumes of SDKyo after TP's rights expired, so I imagine they're on good terms with Kodansha. Also, I believe they are distributing the new Kodansha eds. of Akira and Ghost in the Shell.

3- If DH's edition of the other CLAMP works match their Clover collection, it should be pretty sweet- Clover was 4 volumes in one with great paper, metallic ink cover, and loads of colour pages [plus an artbook section]
