Man, cool that there's going to be more VOTOMS, and the characters of the original series will return, too bad that we won't see any of this in R1 as there's no love for classic mecha....

Shouldn't it be mentioned in the article that Central Park Media released the original Votoms series on DVD in region 1? All 52 episodes on sub-only DVD's IIRC. Kind of sad they are no longer around, they would have probally liked to finish releaseing it. They put out the entire series in box sets. I think that's very important and should get noted. Since you guys always mention when another series get's an update, who released the original in R1...

No R1 licence currently exists for the original as well. Along with other classics in CPM's catalogue, I'm hoping Votoms can be taken pity on by another company. I can't claim to have a familiarity with the milestones of 1980s mecha anime until I've seen at least some of it. |

Will probably buy the box with the OVAs, et al.
VOTOMS is a little slow, and definitely a plotboiler, but by the second arc it's on and popping. I'd suggest Mellowlink as an intro for fans who want something "newer" and with slicker graphics, but VOTOMS is a true classic. |

Yeah, it did look pretty good even with all the CG mecha. They were integrated pretty well (not GREAT but acceptable anyway.) And what was 'hand drawn' looked fantastic. I can't wait for this, I love me some Votoms. You know who would be perfect for picking up the original Armored Trooper Votoms license and repackaging the CMP sub? Media Blasters. Seems like their bag really. |

Perhaps they could buy out the backstock like Funi did ADV for Welcome to the NHK, etc and just repackage it?
