Wow, Fairy Tail was a surprise. xxxHolic was pretty predictable, as was Warriors (which apparently has a huge fanbase, so yeah).

Did anyone else pick up Haruhi #5 and notice that Yen Press is no longer using the high-quality white paper like they used on the first 4 (and the Yotsuba's), but has gone to the standard newsprint-like paper. I wouldn't have minded paying an extra buck for the nicer paper; it's not like these series (Haruhi, Yotsuba) are going to have near-infinite runs like Bleach or Naruto...

Ah, man, that's a real shame Sad . I loved the high-quality paper in Yen's manga... I guess they're doing it to cut costs. Even so, Yen Press is backed by Little and Brown, and cost shouldn't be a factor for them (they're pretty huge). Weird... Confused

Yen Press is going to lesser paper, that does stink. The good quality paper is one reason I never hesitated to buy Yen's manga. Oh well, I guess all good things come to an end eventually.

I don't really mind Yen's paper switch. I found it hard to flip through the manga before with their super-high-quality paper. And right now the paper quality is still better than Viz, Del Rey, and Tokyopop's.

And at least they didn't do a Tokyopop and switch to toilet paper. Wink

I wonder if they are doing it with all their series, because I just picked up Soul eater 2 and it still has the High quality paper!

Hear, hear. While YP's quality was the best, I'm perfectly fine with Viz/Del Ray-level quality. Toilet paper, on the other hand, is not acceptable.
