Really sucks. I like my local Borders more than my Local Barnes and Noble. And all this is happeing JUST as said local Borders selection had started getting real good. I mean, I waled inside and almost everything looked interesting. They had done a whole rearrangement of their stuff, and it worked well.

pity. Knew ye well, Borders.

Although it is very sad this is happening, I really feel bad for the employees that may lose their jobs. Hopefully most of them have other jobs lined up or have enough money to retire or at the very least, enjoy a small vacation and then hopefully find new work.

I wonder how Barns and Noble is doing though? I heard somewhere that someone is trying to buy them out or something around those lines.

However, the Borders in my area closed down last year and other Borders that were some what close, have also closed down as well. Borders has been closing stores left and right, so this news doesn't really surprise me all that much.

Sigh. I guess I can look forward to good deals. *contemplates hiding a bunch of mangas until when the sales get really good*

dont get ur hopes up too high for heavy discounts on manga
the last liquidation company that closed half the stores here in dallas reduced prices up to 20%
then they moved all the good books like manga to a different store!

so what they do is pick one main store location they plan to keep open longer than the rest, move the valuable books there and slowly discount the prices over weeks.
It was honestly a waste of time going back to the store each week and the prices ended up close the same as amazon or rightstuf after taxes. So just go there for fun, find what you want, then call it a day.

Yeah and when the one a bit farther off then me closed, I got some epic deals on manga, complete set of Pluto for about $25. They aren't going to bother to ship books to one central location unless you have a huge number in one area.

There are only two Borders in my area and they are about an hour apart. I'll be going sooner this time. I learned from the Waldenbooks closures that around here the good manga will disappear in the first couple of sales so if I wait until the last throes 50% (or 75%) off sale I'll be stuck with Princess Ai.

So long, old friend.

And as the beast takes its final breaths, the vultures begin to gather. They have watched from a distance, for they knew of the coming of this day perhaps even before the beast itself.

man, i just bought a borders plus membership like 6 months ago. i bought enough stuff with the 33% and 40% coupons they constantly send to make out good with the membership, but i still feel cheated 6 months. also, now i have to go to barnes and noble even though i don't like them as much. i don't like the look of their store or the location as much as borders. really sux. guess i'll have to just buy everything online now. the last visit i made to borders i did notice their manga selection had been reduced by one whole aisle. i'm sure that was because of this news.

I bought The Rampage of Haruhi Suzumiya novel yesterday and volume 1 of the Gurren Lagann manga today! Every extra dollar is going toward helping them get rid of the stuff I need for my collection!

It's a sad day when Borders decides to shut down Anime cry
They always had the best selection of books (huge selections too), and they even carried figurines and toys from the series in the section too.
They're also the only bookstore I can think of that sells 18+ yaoi manga Anime hyper
The only other bookstore in my area now is Barnes and Noble, and that's the worst store I can think of DX They have the smallest sections, the worst books, a terrible layout, a crappy cafe, and they don't have sections like humor, sci-fi, or fantasy. Their manga section is complete crap because it's only two book cases long (in my store), and they don't even have an atheist section (whereas, Borders does).

First 14 days of the liquidation apparently. After that, your on your own. So make that discount earn your money back!!

Also, you need to get in your returns, BR+ refunds, and whatnot by TODAY of store close. After that, tough cookies.

Also, there seems to be abit of confusion with Special Orders. The Liquidators will start to tear into packages come the start of liquidation Friday. So if you have something on order and it is supposed to arrive at a store......your ****ed.

I won't go near another one of these stores. Got in an argument with the cashier when I told them not to deface my books with a permanent marker. Rather spend my money elsewhere then provide for some petty liquidators.

My Mom mentioned this to me on Tuesday. I'm planning to make a trip to Borders when it starts up. I hope they have some good things in stock.

I lived 10 minutes away from a Borders and they just recently shut down. This sucks for people like me who love going to bookstores. Farwell Borders, some the best hours of my life were in there wondering and reading.
