Makes sense. For Otaku anime, a good 85-90% sales are BD anyway, so phasing out DVD is a good move.

Not for women otaku (see Uta no Prince BD vs DVD preorders) but I guess this is intended to be a men's show.

I for one am happy. I've never bought a DVD since I got a BD player (Years ago when I got a PS3)

*sigh* well I'll have to make the move eventually, but there's not even an HD TV in my house yet. I look forward to the day when I will have an excuse to get a PS3, god of war 3, Infamous, and other games I've been ignoring cus I lack PS3 (I play my DS the most anyway).

Time for an update dude, and money shouldn't really be an issue. Lots of hd t.v.'s come pretty cheap nowadays.

I wonder if this is going to affect R1. Not in the sense of phasing out DVD but restricting BDs of certain shows to just dub only to combat reverse importation. That is already going on now but it could get worse.

Yeah, but money's still a bit tight and my old TV isn't exactly broken. Maybe once it breaks I'll get an HDTV, but as long as the old tube TV is working and working great, forget it, I hate replacing stuff with new stuff just because I can, it's a bit of a pet peeve for me. Besides, I do more manga anyway these days. I mean, I look forward to eventually getting a PS3, but I'm in no rush.

Saw this happening sooner or later I suppose. I still think the cost of jumping into hd is expensive, especially if you want to take advantage of hd surround sound and the like. I've had my PS3 for a while now, but my hdtv is on the low end, and it's small. I've been saving for a while, but with all that nice anime on BD it's hard. I see some of these cheaper brands at Walmart and Bestbuy, but my conscience tells me to go for a major brand. I'll probably get an LG or a Samsung (my parents have a 46" one and anime looks gorgeousssss on it).
