One fathoms the choice of words in the article sheds light on the rationale behind ANN's recent user survey. This is not to say that I find cause for complaint about it, I should add.

Well I dislike the cover art, but the art on the inside makes up for it. I also really like the use of the weird round panles to help set the mood.

I am pretty sure that everyone who took the survey misunderstood the name "manga-styled comic" to be manga made by some white-guys. But this stuff is not even close to being called manga honestly, they should just call it a comic, because aside from the art (i.e. the character design of the main character) everything looks just like a comic.

You sure your eyes are right? Because the manga influence just drips from those sample pages. Also, I personally would find it a lot more interesting if the art is a blending of American and Japanese styles, rather than a flat-out rehash of the latter. |

Storyline looks promising, so I'll keep up to it. Art style is a little too generic like how some anime are in some parts.

You do realize that some Japanese comics written by Japanese people published in Japanese magazines for Japanese audiences occasionally read left to right? Kingdom Hearts comes to mind. I mean, I don't like the idea of this being considered "manga-style" either (mostly because that's a stupid concept in and of itself-- there is no "manga style" and even some of the most popular Japanese comics don't look like that stereotype), but that's a pretty random reason! |

I just want to know, why is American manga still misusing screen tones so much? I suppose it's from the traditional model of color comics that US artists are used to. But without differences in hue, the overuse of mid-tone greys greatly reduces the clarity and panels' power.

Probably since 1981, when they first created MTV. As for the comic, if that is considered a manga, than you might as well consider my college statistics math text book a manga as well. |
