So the publisher in Italy is possibly spoiling plans for a follow-up manga. That won't go over well with Shueisha.

Apparently some people have contacted the editorial department dealing with this series and got confirmation that it was a simple error and that the next chapter should come out in the next issue. With that said, I can't really link to the discussion about it here considering where the info was posted.

Well this is certainly going to be an annoying ride of misinformation until we get a straight answer. I'm really behind in the series, but I have a definite interest in finishing and collecting the whole thing.
If it is ended, I hope there will be a sequel series post haste. But mainly I really just want a straight answer from somebody. |

Well, we'll see when the next issue is out. Even if the last chapter wasn't the end, it will probably be soon enough. The final showdown between Prissy and Clare could just be next and I wouldn't mind for it to end soon. Yagi keeps introducing new, flat characters instead of using and developing the existing ones, which ultimately made the series boring for me.

Well, nothing was resolved and the manga is still pretty much in the middle of the story, it was clear that Claymore wasn't ending, wasn't it ? The opposite would have been surprising actually.

Because Star Comics is publishing Claymore in Italy and probably got contacted by enough local fans to issue a statement? I'm not sure why people would think Star Comics is lying, it's fair to assume they got contacted Japan.... |

I'm only following the Viz releases of Claymore, so I'm not as up-to-date as some readers here. So what happened is there was an "Owari" (The End) tagged at the end of the latest chapter in the Japanese comic and it seemed like it was at some random place? It looks like the series still has a lot to wrap up? And so now fans are hoping that's not the case because the Italian publisher says it was a mistake? What I'm mainly asking about is the fact that the "final" chapter seemed to stop at some arbitrary place?

Not completely arbitrary. The newest chapter is the end of one major plot line. It even ends with a "and that was the end of it" narration (which could be a reason why an editor would by mistake place a "the end" instead of "to be continued" on the last page, dunno).
People are confused because other plot lines, that have been taking place at the same time but in a different location, are not completed yet. And Japanese readers are just as confused. |

No, they specifically addressed the rumors on the internet and said that it's being published in the next issue of the magazine as usual. The link to their statement is in the news, feed it to google tl. |
