The company also announced at the panel that it is relocating from St. Louis, Missouri to the Dallas, Texas area.

Oh goody, so i guess if they plan to dub other titles in the future that they can use FUNi's VAs like Illumitoon used to do.

Since they're moving to Dallas, it's understandable that they wouldn't be able to use the same voice cast for the second season, and this is a pretty niche show, and the dub wasn't that good, but still, I enjoyed it for the sole fact that it is, to date, the only anime dub ever done in St. Louis, though this means the "Midstream" in their name is pretty much meaningless now. They seem to be moving up in the anime world, and going all-out. And yeah, it's very likely that any future dub from them will be the good 'ol Dallas talent pool that we're so accustomed to hearing these days. If they don't use FUNimation themselves, then they'd likely just use Okatron 5000.

My biggest disappointment is that St. Louis' voice talent pool won't be able to develop.

Well, this isn't exactly a surprising revelation. The show is one of the last to still be released in singles, and they are sometimes 12-14 months apart at that. I can see why they couldn't continue with the dub. I hope they can get the rest of season one out as quickly as they say.

Funny how Texas, of all places, developed into the choice locale for anime distribution companies. I'm guessing it's a fairly business-friendly state.

Or they don't have to deal with voice acting union rules. Rolling Eyes

That's very understandable, but I highly doubt Raijin-Oh's English dub was union to begin with. Razz

I do think it's nice that Midstream is dedicating this to Cassandra Hodges. She had a very short career, but her story is very sad.

It's great to hear a fair bit of news from them other than "Our next release is coming out soon!". But the rest of the news ranges from understandable to surprising.

Dropping the dub for the second half of Raijin-Oh is understandable, since the dub was, from what I could understand, the main reason why the releases were so far apart; a lot of the actors Midstream used were still in school, so dub recording had to be scheduled around that. The move to Dallas, though, is surprising to hear. Supposedly, though, Jimmy Taylor (the founder of Anime Midstream) was originally a voice actor back like ten years ago and did some work for ADV back then, so it's likely Taylor made some contacts during that time, which will probably help the company out in terms of operating.

But as long as Raijin-Oh gets a full release I'll be happy, and hopefully this move will only the beginning of bigger things for Anime Midstream.

Ouch.

I was actually liking the dub too because I thought they were actually improving as it went along.

We're gonna have another GaoGaiGar, aren't we? (Dubbed first half, subbed second half, no OVAs)

Congrats for Midstream all the same. Thought the name is sort pointless now, isn't it? Oh well, things like this happen.

I don't think that really matters. The VAs in LA do both union and non-union work.
