This is gonna be interesting. I wonder how the bronies will think of it.
Any chance it's gonna be the IDW comics translated to Japanese, or will it be all new? |

It's definitely going to be a Japanese mangaka. They're announcing the artist later this spring, according to Bushiroad's MLP booth at TAF. |

Well I for one am interested, however there are going to be a few Bronies who will most likely go into a fanboi rage over MLP being tainted by the impurity of anime/manga. |

also @StormSky, you can't taint something that was already ruined ages ago honey, if anything it'll be fun to see what kind of ideas the Manga-Ka behind the series can come up with, I bet it'll be super cute & also hopefully super zany! 
Edit: Speaking of IDW, wonder if they'll snatch this baby up and localize it, I know they don't work with manga usually, but considering how well the MLP comics have sold for them I wouldn't be surprised if they at least considered it. Yay! This probably won't be as good as the IDW comic (When Katie Cook is writing and Andy Price is drawing), but it'll still be super cute.
Also, the IDW comic definitely wouldn't be suited to a Japanese children's magazine because: 1. It's really targeted more to bronies than actual kids. Fan pandering and Tolkein-esque plots ahoy. 2. Due to this, it's packed full of US nerd culture references. And as a US comic, it's much more dialogue-heavy than Japanese manga. 3. It wouldn't be the same with out full color throughout every page, and a regular JP manga magazine will only be able to do black and white for most pages. |

Can't freaking wait. I hope they get Kia Asamiya (Star Wars: The Phantom Menace manga, Corrector Yui, Martian Sucessor Nadesico manga) to do it.

It's sexist quotes like this that make me ashamed to be an anime fan. Nobody would complain if a western series aimed at boys got its own manga, so shut the hell up. Yeesh; double standards. |
