Yet another issue with everything becoming digital. I suppose Nooks would become bricks pretty much then if it gets shut down and turned into an App instead for other devices?

I'm sure they'll keep it functioning and able to buy and read books. It would be a colossal dick move, both as policy and PR, to not offer support for the future app's namesake.

I'm surprised that Nooks lasted this long... well congratulations Amazon you have pretty much monopolised the Market.

It's a shame. I absolutely love my Nook and like it a lot better than the Kindle. (Before this I had a Sony Reader, which really kind of sucked.) I just hope the companies keep dedicated ereaders around instead of just tablets. Part of why I love my Nook is that it's e-ink so I don't get headaches from reading on it like I do with my computer, and it doesn't have the distractions of apps and stuff like tablets.

I love my Nook too (I have a tablet type). It is far superior hardware to Kindle (I had mine for 6 months) and B&N has more books. But, you know there is trouble though when you're walking in a B&N and overhear a woman talking about how she just bought a Kindle for her mother. Obviously people don't do research and buy a Kindle because of the advertising and familiarity with Amazon, or they get a full on Android tablet. Some of those are incredibly well priced now.

MS nabbing a cheap deal and means to get on the market.

B&N has larger selection, but i don't think Nook going broker the same kind draw the device does. I had bad feeling about how B&S was struggling, but their brick & mortar stores are more draw than online.
