Overall I still think 5Cm was more powerful, but this was a beautiful story and I'm glad it's doing so well

Not too often ya get a romance involving a teen boy and an older woman in anime. I liked this one. Glad to hear it's making some money.

The availability of the film on iTunes is mentioned, but not the fact that it's been available on Blu-ray for two weeks already?

Apparently it didn't take Sentai very long to work on this 45 min film as I've already received the copy I ordered.

Either they were efficient at getting it out or they did another rush job and made dumb errors, as seems to be the norm for Sentai here lately ......... either way, here in a few minutes I'll find out as I'm about to watch it. Looking forward to it

You're not allowed to watch it, yet! ADV says that that the English-language version is premiering at Anime Expo. No one is allowed to watch it until after that! Hmm... I guess that means that you can watch it in Japanese with subtitles. ;p

I watched my Japanese BD last weekend. It's definitely a beautiful piece of animation...

It looks so beautiful, yet his stories aren't that great -_-. The only thing that worked was the EF Visual Novel games for me. I had to mute 5cm and play Akiko Shikata's amazing music instead. This was much, much better.

I got my Japanese Bluray on release day and it includes English subtitles already so there is no need to wait for an English release unless it is much cheaper for some reason. The Japanese version is not that expensive and comes with a soundtrack CD and booklet, I suppose translating the booklet into English could take a little time.

I love this movie! I have to watch it a few more times to decide if it is my favorite or if 5cm or Places Promised but I love all his work.

Glad it is doing well in the theatres too. Interesting about the iTunes download and they sold the Blurays in theatres too.

Can't wait for his next one!

I think that Garden of Words' success is the result of his previous works' quality more so than it's own. Garden of Words was excellent, and I'd say one of his better works. But not his #1.

I think we all agree that title belongs to 5 Wallpapers Per Second. For me the close second would be Children Who Chase Lost Voices, as I thoroughly enjoyed his melancholic style in combination with a setting and story that was more akin to Miyazaki than Shinkai.

Sentai intentionally printed it early so it would be available to sell for Anime Expo, as Shinkai was their guest of honor. Right Stuf and other retailers started shipping it out over a week ago. Anime companies like Sentai and Funimation don't contractually require retailers to honor their street, unlike Hollywood studios, who will fine resellers.
