I'm glad to see the Dalai Lama gave approval over this. Oh boy, I hope this doesn't cause anymore straining diplomatic relation between Japan and China (after China put up the air identification zone and Japan PM visiting the Yasukuni Shrine), I wouldn't be surprised if China decide to put a all-out ban on this anime like they did to Battlefield 4. I hope the Dalai Lama's stamp of approval doesn't cause any complaint from China like when the Dalai Lama went to Washington DC and had talked with President Obama. I don't want to see China launching more anti-Japan protests, I mean Japan already got enough criticism.

I apologize if I got a little political, but when the Dalai Lama does something it gives China a reason to yap and complain, I don't want this anime to get under fire from China.

I'd be curious to know what “stamp of approval” means in this case, and if it means anything more than the quote “I am very thankful to have the world of the Buddha be spread by the film.” Sounds to me like he's taking a “bird's eye” view of the movie, as opposed to a movie critic's view.

This is surprising. I've been waiting to see the second movie and it's been soooo long since the last one. But this is interesting news.

The names are sort of wrong in the article. By saying "Queen Māyādevī" you are redundantly saying "Queen Queen Maya" and "Ruri" is actually the common Japanese name for Prince "Virudhaka" (for some reason).

Wow, Migaila's a lot more clothed in this than in the comics . . . Laughing

It's been a while since I read the comics and I only got a little over halfway through, so I don't remember all the characters though, but Bimbisara sounds familiar.

I notice this movie seems to mix a cast of on-camera, well-known actors (like most Western animated movies) with actual voice actors. Kinda wish more Western animated movies would include voice actors (part of what made me happy about Winnie the Pooh). Nice to see Kanako Toujo in this after I really dug From the New World.
